The Subject of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin
If you're a fan of PLL, you already know that all of the earlier programs in the PLL Universe have some connection to the first one, whether through character or plot sharing. Although it takes place in that shared universe, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will focus on a different group of Little Liars.
According to Deadline, the reboot's plot summary is as follows: “Twenty years ago, a string of tragic events nearly tore the blue-collar village of Millwood apart.
Currently, a fresh batch of Little Liars are being tormented by an unidentified assailant and forced to pay for the secret Sin both of their parents committed two decades ago, as well as their own, in the present.
Given that the relaunch is being overseen by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale, and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, a former staff writer on CAOS, it makes logical that the series is darker, more contemporary, and “horror-tinged.”
Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring, referring to the original 2010 series, stated, “We're such enormous fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast produced, we felt we had to treat the original series as #canon and make something different.”
We are leaning toward suspense and horror in this relaunch to honor the fans' affection for the popular series while incorporating new, surprising elements.
