If you are a fan of action and crime films, that too of Hong Kong and Chinese origin, you would surely love “Raging Fire” which was released on 30th July 2021. It is the last directorial effort of Benny Chan, who took his last breaths on 23rd August 2020 fighting cancer. The film stars Donnie Yen and Nicholas Tse as the main protagonist and antagonists, respectively.
Today’s world is mostly ruled by greed, but even then, there are people who live their life by ethics and pass down the same to their future generations. Some people believe in not doing hard work and cutting the time of success by taking shortcuts. Sometimes they get lucky and climb to the top, but when it miserably fails, that’s when you can only think of vengeance. You become one of the corrupted and greedy individuals. This is the story of Cheung Song-Pong and Yau Kong- ngo.
Brief Plot Raging Fire
During a sting operation, Pong was attacked by a mysterious group of criminals who were led by none other than ngo; that’s when his past comes back, haunting him.
Cheung Song-Pong is a righteous officer who lives by morals and ethics. Therefore he is ousted by other officers, But Yau Kong-ago, his protege, thinks of him as a very good person and a mentor. But ngo wanted quick success rather than climbing each ladder carefully.
During such a risky move, he was sent to prison for 3 years. His career vanished in a puff. His heart filled with vengeance. He sought to take revenge from every person who made his life this miserable, including his own mentor, Pong.
Ratings and Reviews for Raging Fire
The film does not have the best of ratings, but the ratings are quite good. It has scored 7.2 stars out of 10 on IMDb, 138 people have voted for this. As it was released in China, there are not many reviews that we could find.
If we talk about ratings from some other sites, it is 83% fresh on rotten tomatoes but with only 6 votes. But we couldn’t find a score on Metacritic. But according to one critic, he has given the movie a score of 58.

If you want a final opinion on whether or not you should watch the film. We feel like it is a great one-time watch. Both Donnie Yen and Nicholas have played their parts gracefully. The movie lacks action, it is much more about courtrooms and bureaucracy. But there are short action clips that are filled with huge kinetic power. We wouldn’t watch the movie over and over again, but it’s certainly a movie that should be watched at least once.
So, you see, shortcuts are not the way to climb the ladder of success; you have to actually work hard for it. Or you will end up in a bad place even though you didn’t mean any of that. The only mistake that you made was taking a shortcut.
