Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Everything We Know So Far

Many Pokémon fans were surprised to learn that the new generation of Pokémon would arrive sooner than they anticipated. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were revealed on Pokémon Day 2022, and when they are released later this year, they will provide a new territory, new animals, and a slew of other features.

Between Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus, there hasn't been a shortage of content for Pokémon fans in the last few months.

And while recent games have sparked a lot of controversies, the information that has been revealed so far indicates that this could be the open-world Pokémon game that fans have been waiting for.

Scarlet and Violet, while nothing is known about them at this time, have the potential to combine the beloved franchise's conventional formula with the advancements and quality-of-life enhancements found in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which is now in development. Here's what we know thus far about the situation.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Trailer

With a less typical approach, the trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet begins with a security guard searching around an abandoned, artifact-filled area in developer Game Freak's office before showing off part of the region.

Despite the fact that the game footage is not finished and is most likely from an early build, this nameless world appears vivid and full of character.

Many Pokémon from earlier generations appear in the clip, and fans have already observed that the textures on some of them appear to be significantly more realistic than in prior games, with Seviper appearing to be covered in scales and Magneton appearing to be glossy and metallic in appearance.

As well as a peek at the new player characters, the presentation also includes a glimpse at the region's three starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, which are among the most interesting of all. Following the conclusion of the three-minute-long trailer, the game's titles and logos for Scarlet and Violet are revealed.

What We Know So Far About Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

While little information has been released about the games and their setting, fans have speculated that the region is most likely modeled on Spain, based on the architecture, range of environments, and even the names of the characters who appear in the games.

All that has been announced about the starters so far are their mono-type Grass, Fire, and Water forms (like they did in past generations), yet fans have already made several observations regarding their influences and possible final forms.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The only other thing that has been confirmed is that Scarlet and Violet will be the first genuine open-world Pokémon games, which is tremendously exciting news for Pokémon fans.

While Pokémon Legends: Arceus (which the developers never referred to as open-world) had separate open areas to explore, Generation IX will feature a seamless world where towns blend into the wilderness and Pokémon can be found everywhere, from the grass to the skies to the cities, as opposed to the previous games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Release Date

It is expected that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released in the fall of 2022. While no exact release date has been announced, knowing that the majority of main series Pokémon games published since 2013 have done so in mid-November, it is probable that these releases will follow suit.

While nothing else has been mentioned about the game's release, including any special editions or preorder incentives, it has been confirmed that it will support Pokémon HOME.
