Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Release Date: Cast | Plot | Trailer | and Everything We Know So Far!

Even if they haven't seen the films, most people have heard of the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow, the protagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

Pirates of the Caribbean initially gained popularity and acclaim as a result of its status as a film adaptation of a similarly named ride at an amusement park.

Released in 2003, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl spawned four more films between 2006 and 2017: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Barbary Coast, and Dead Men Tell No Tales. The later films' audiences may have dwindled, but Captain Jack remains a fan favorite.

In 2018, the studio stated that they would release the sixth film in the series. While the film has been out for a long time, substantive information about it remains sparse.

There were a number of potential roadblocks to the film's production, including Johnny Depp's reluctance to play Jack Sparrow, the Covid-19 outbreak, and the defamation prosecution of Amber Heard. Fans, in the meantime, have developed a plethora of theories and guesses.

Fans want Depp back as Jack Sparrow despite his claim that it would take “a million alpacas” to convince him to do so again. The internet has been inundated with fan art of him, leading some to question whether he will actually appear in the film.

But it seems that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be moving in a new path. This is everything we know about the newest episode.

What Will Happen in Pirates of the Caribbean 6: Plot?

Since work on Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has not even begun as of 2022, we have no idea what the plot will entail. Given that it has been nearly two decades since the first film in the franchise was released, we can safely assume that it will look very different from what we have seen so far.

In 2020, Hollywood gossip stated that Disney intended to increase the representation of women and people of color in the cast.

Even before that, in October of 2018, Disney announced that they will be starting the series over from the beginning with a new feature instead of picking up where the fifth film left off. The fact that Johnny Depp isn't expected to play Jack Sparrow anytime soon is a contributing factor. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who had been hired for the reboot, quit the project early on, sinking the plan.

Former franchise employees Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Ted Elliot have been rehired, suggesting that the plan to start the series over again is moving forward. But we can't say for sure what would be altered or deleted, or how.

There's no sign that viewers will get to see characters like Will and Elizabeth (Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley) in the film. No official details have been released yet, so speculation about the sixth film's premise and characters is inevitable.

Longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced in late August 2022 that Ted Elliot, who has worked on four previous Pirates of the Caribbean films, would direct the sixth installment in the franchise.

Expected Release Date of Pirates of the Caribbean 6

The production team behind Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has yet to announce the film's official release date. The movie is expected to hit theatres this summer. We don't have specific release dates yet, but it will come after the film's theatrical debut. The film will also be made accessible for internet viewing via Disney Plus Hotstar in addition to traditional theatrical release.

All indications are that production on the film still underway rumors. We're almost ready to start shooting, but we're still finalizing the scripts.

A Look At The Pirates Of The Caribbean Movie's Cast

Questions about the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 abound. However, there has been no official announcement of the cast members.

The biggest mystery is whether or not Johnny Depp will reprise his role from the last film. Apparently, the producers aren't all that keen on having Johnny return for this sequel.

After Johnny Depp's wife filed for divorce, alleging domestic abuse, his reputation took a nosedive, and with it, the film's box office take.

What Happened in Pirates of the Caribbean's Previous Instalment?

Continuing on the events of the previous film, Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sees the gang facing combat against both new and returning antagonists. Johnny Depp and his team go on the search for Captain Salazar and his zombie crew in this video game adaptation.

Should Johnny Depp Reprise His Role as Captain Jack Sparrow?

This has been a hotly debated topic, with some Harry Potter fans demanding that Johnny Depp be written out of the films much as he was written out of the Fantastic Beasts movies. Many fans have started online petitions requesting that Will Ferrell reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow because they believe there cannot be a new Pirates film without him.

With Disney‘s production chief Sean Bailey saying in an interview that he wants to “add a fresh energy and vigor to the brand,” it's safe to assume that Depp's character is no longer a part of Disney's plans for the film series.

Legends of his voyages (many of which are wholly fictional stories made by Jack himself) have traveled far and wide in the Pirates universe, so while the character may not return physically, we do expect him to be addressed in dialogue.
