Picard Season 3: Release Date, Cast, Plot And Trailer!

It's an exciting time to be a Star Trek fan right now, with the new series Strange New Worlds having just premiered in the United States to overwhelmingly positive reviews.

However, while one series is just getting started, another is nearing the end of its run, with the second season of Star Trek: Picard having recently concluded after another ten episodes following the exploits of Patrick Stewart's famed Starfleet officer, Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

There's still one more season left until the series comes to an end for real, and with the last set of episodes being filmed back-to-back with the second season, there's a lot for Trekkies to look forward to in the coming months and years.

Listed below is what we know about Star Trek Picard season 3.

Because no official release date has been published yet, it is impossible to predict when the final season will be released. However, we know that it will premiere during the second half of 2023.

We also know that filming on the series has already concluded, with production on seasons two and three taking place back-to-back, which means that there will be no unforeseen delays in the final run.

The season will probably premiere around the same time as the last one did — which would put the US premiere sometime in early March and the UK release a few days after that.

When it comes to the last season's cast, there's some exciting news to share: no less than six recognizable names from Next Generation will be returning to the Star Trek world.

Star Trek: The Next Generation stars LeVar Burton and Michael Dorn in the roles of Lt Commander Geordi La Forge and Worf, respectively. At the same time, Gates McFadden is expected to reprise his role as Dr. Beverly Crusher.

While Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner, who have made brief cameos in the series thus far, will all have significant parts in the final season, it has been confirmed.

“I recall viewing the opening of Star Trek: The Next Generation with my father, which took place about 34 years ago as if it were yesterday. “It was the spark that kindled my passion for science fiction,” season three showrunner and executive producer Terry Matalas said when the news was initially revealed in April. “It was the spark that ignited my passion for science fiction.”

“As a result, it is only appropriate that the saga of Jean-Luc Picard concludes with his fondest and most faithful companions from the U.S.S. Enterprise, to pay tribute to the beginning. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a meaningful send-off has been a privilege and a joy. This last, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three is one that the whole Star Trek: Picard crew and I are looking forward to bringing to fans!”

It's no surprise that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as the main character – but it appears that he will not be accompanied by Agnes Jurati actress Alison Pill, who recently stated that she would not be returning for the final season.

“I'm well aware that season three will be the final season. Because I was not a part of season three, I don't have much to say about it in the way of spoilers. “She spoke with MovieWeb about her experience. “I'll be able to watch with the rest of the group,” she says.

The remaining cast members for the last season are still to be determined. Still, we can anticipate Isa Briones, Harry Treadaway, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, and Evan Evagora to return – with Whoopi Goldberg perhaps returning in the role of Guinan.

It's a little early to speculate about potential story aspects. Still, considering the number of returning cast members, it appears highly probable that Picard will delve into his past and be reunited with old acquaintances during the series' final season.

If a more detailed description becomes available, we'll let you know, but we can probably reasonably assume that the program will not go out with a bang.
