Bisan Owda, a Palestinian journalist and filmmaker, has earned a nomination for the esteemed News and Documentary Emmy Award. Her recognition comes for her powerful reporting and storytelling from war-torn Gaza amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Owda, who has been collaborating with AJ+ on the series ‘It’s Bisan from Gaza' and I’m Still Alive, has portrayed the harsh realities of Gaza, amassing over 40 million views across different platforms.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for The 45th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards on Saturday, July 27.

The awards will be distributed across two separate ceremonies: the “News Categories” will be presented on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. EDT, followed by the “Documentary Categories” on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

The winners of the News & Documentary Emmy Awards are expected to be announced at the end of September 2024.

Both ceremonies will be held live at the Palladium Times Square in New York City and will be streamed on NATAS’ dedicated Vimeo-powered platform.

The Emmy Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across different fields of television and emerging media.

Earlier in June, Owda, a Cultural Vlogger, was awarded the Peabody Award for the same series, which she received from a Palestinian refugee camp.
