In a Statement, Otis Redding III's Daughter Verified the Cause of Death
Otis III's sister, Karla Redding-Andrews, broke the news of his death, saying that her brother had been ill with cancer for some time before he passed away.
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Otis Redding III confirms that he lost his battle with cancer last evening at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Ga.,” Karla wrote on the Otis Redding Foundation's Facebook page.
“Otis's age was given as 59. Her statement went on to ask that their privacy be respected while they grieved their great loss and that they be kept in your prayers. Neither Otis III nor Karla revealed the type of cancer he was battling in the months leading up to his death.
The artist's most recent Instagram pictures feature a birthday party in December 2022 and a shot of his mother, Zelma Redding, posing with a plaque presented to her by Jim Stewart.
