One Life to Live Review: Why ‘As The World Turns’ Actress Died?

One Life to Live Review: Life in Llanview has continued long after the ABC soap's run ended in January 2012, as demonstrated by the debut episode of “One Life to Live.”

No, we don't mean that the soap has skipped five years ahead to advance its storylines; as sister soap “All My Children” has done; we mean that characters didn't just walk upstairs to the attic and remain silent and motionless as millions of viewers mourned their reported final breaths.

The opera is set to re-launch on Monday, April 29 on Hulu; Hulu Plus; and iTunes; with the opening of Blair's new nightclub; Shelter; serving as the backdrop to getting things going once more.

When Will It Relaunch?

No, we don't mean that the soap has skipped five years ahead to advance its storylines, as sister soap “All My Children” has done; we mean that characters didn't just walk upstairs to the attic and remain silent and motionless as millions of viewers mourned their reported final breaths.

The opera is set to re-launch on Monday, April 29 on Hulu; Hulu Plus; and iTunes; with the opening of Blair's new nightclub; Shelter; serving as the backdrop to getting things going once more.

One Life to Live: Plot

Featuring “OLTL's” contract players' dance routine (including Bo/Nora; Natalie/Cutter with a twist of Rama/Cutter into Dorian/David followed by Rama/David; then Todd/Blair with Jack walking towards them; then Dani/Tea; and finally Jeffrey/Dani/Destiny/Matthew and Viki/Clint); “Brand New Start” is the title of “One Life's” new opening theme

“Let me feel you, can't you see I'm not afraid,” the theme concludes.

One Life to Live: Young Adults

At the time, there are no “teens” in Llanview. The foursome of young adults is Destiny Evans (Laura Harrier), Matthew Buchanan (Robert Gorrie); Danielle Manning (Kelley Missal), and Jeffrey King (Corbin Bleu).

One Life to Live Review

With Destiny and Matthew raising a kid (baby Drew Buchanan); Jeffrey finding a dream position at The Banner; and Dani looking for a purpose; viewers will be able to identify with the present situations in which the protagonists find themselves; whether good or bad.

As the roles transform into the over 21 age bracket; Harrier and Gorrie have nicely taken on the life of their characters originally portrayed by Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) and Eddie Alderson (Matthew).

Fans should have no trouble getting caught up in their past and future storylines because the chemistry between the two actors is palpable; leaving you wanting more.

Over the years, Gorrie has transformed Matthew from the young youngster Bo Buchanan (Robert S. Woods) who fought Sam Rapport (Kale Brown) into the man we see today dealing with his child drama.

Meanwhile, Kelley Missal has established herself as the actress to watch when it comes to the Daytime Emmys.

In barely a half-hour watch, the starlet portrays a new kind of Dani, reminding audiences what the Emmy process is all about: selecting the Outstanding person in a certain acting category.

Corbin Bleu is best recognized for his role in the “High School Musical” blockbuster.

He plays a sexy, young, motivated news reporter on “One Life;” who is determined to get to the bottom of a story; even if it means rekindling the rivalry between his new boss Victoria Lord (Erika Slezak) and Dorian Lord (Robin Strasser).

It's refreshing to see a character given a task that doesn't feel forced merely because their actor is a “known” actor.

Marnie Schulenburg; ‘one Life to Live' Actress Found Dead Her Manager Told

According to her Manager, Marnie Schulenburg, a soap opera actress who documented her journey from a new mother to a cancer patient, died after battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

She was 37.

Schulenburg died Tuesday, according to her manager Kyle Luker, who portrayed Alison Stewart on “As the World Turns” and Jo Sullivan on the “One Life to Live” revival.

She and her husband, Zack Robidas of “Succession,” had their daughter Coda two years ago.

Schulenburg wrote about her diagnosis for the Soaps site in December 2020.

“On the eve of my 36th birthday, instead of looking for a location to drink several Bloody Marys (my birthdays typically include Bloody Marys, boats, and lobster, in no particular sequence), I kept asking myself the same question.

“How can one celebrate a birthday with a new baby while dealing with a Stage IV, metastatic, borderline triple-negative inflammatory breast cancer diagnosis in the middle of a global pandemic?” she wrote.

Schulenburg, a former gymnast, grew up in Barnstable, Massachusetts, and told The Morning Call in 2012 that her aspirations to attend college in Boston were thwarted after her elder brother Gus, a published playwright, took her to DeSales University, where she fell in love with the campus.

She also met Robidas while working as his campus guide at the school and fell in love with him.

Schulenburg began acting in high school and landed a position on “As the World Turns” the following year.

She later appeared in the 2013 web relaunch of “One Life to Live.”

Schulenburg, who would have turned 38 on Saturday, also acted in off-Broadway productions and on television shows such as “Blue Bloods” and, most recently, Showtime's “City on a Hill.”

She opened up about her battle with cancer on social media, saying on her verified Instagram account earlier this month on Mother's Day that she had been released home from the hospital on oxygen.

“Being a 38-year-old mother who needs an oxygen tank to survive is not my ideal situation right now.”

“I want to be strong and beautiful for her,” she captioned a sequence of images featuring her daughter and Candace, her mother.

“Like my mother, I want to show her how to travel through this world with compassion, power, vivacity, humor, and joy.”
