Not Okay Trailer Review: Zoey Deutch Playing As Fake Instagram Star

Not Okay, an upcoming film that will be satirical of modern culture, has recently received a brand new teaser trailer from Searchlight Pictures. In the film, Zoey Deutch plays Danni Sanders, and the plot follows her as a social media hoax gets out of hand and entangles her in a web of lies that is much more extensive than she had ever intended. Zoey Deutch

Zoey Deutch (Set It Up), Dylan O'Brien (Teen Wolf), and Mia Isaac (Don't Make Me Go) are among the actors who star in the movie, which was written and directed by Quinn Shephard.

The brand new teaser trailer kicks off with a disclaimer that the movie has an unlikeable female lead, and the social commentary continues from there. It then depicts Danni struggling with the aftermath of a deception that spiraled far beyond her control, as strangers all across the world insult her for her situation.

Danni gives the impression that she is a survivor of a terrorist attack by staging a trip to Paris to gain influence right when a horrible event rocks the City of Lights. What was her offense?

After collaborating on the critically acclaimed crime film The Outfit together a year ago, this will be the second time that Zoe Deutch and Dylan O'Brien have worked on a project together.

Deutch has been well recognized in romantic comedies due to her incredibly charming performance in the Netflix film Set It Up. In Not Okay, O'Brien is going to play her love interest, Colin, and after watching how well they worked together in The Outfit, we can't wait to see what kind of chemistry they have in this new project.

Danni's lie will undoubtedly and unavoidably bring her ideal relationship with Colin tumbling to the ground at some point, which may make things more difficult for Danni and Colin.

Don't Make Me Go, in which she co-starred with John Cho. In addition, Danni forms “an unusual connection” with Isaac's character Rowan, who is described as a “school shooting survivor motivated to societal reform.”

`Although Isaac is still relatively new to the acting scene, she recently made her debut in the Prime Video film.

On July 29, Not Okay will be available to stream on Hulu, and you can check out the brand new teaser trailer right here:

The following is the official plot summary for Not Okay by Searchlight Pictures:

“Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch), an aimless wannabe writer who has no friends, no love possibilities, and — worst of all — no followers, fabricates an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of increasing her influence on social media. Danni unknowingly gets involved in a falsehood much larger than anything she could have ever dreamed of after a horrible event occurs in the City of Lights. She “returns” as a hero, even striking up an improbable friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a school shooting survivor who is dedicated to societal reform, and snagging the guy of her dreams, Colin (Dylan O'Brien). Danni now has the life and audience she's always wanted since becoming an advocate and influencer. However, it is only a matter of time before the facade falls apart, and she finds out the hard way that the Internet is crazy about a good takedown.”
