For a brief period, he was assigned to Robert Eggers' remake of “Nosferatu,” but he was forced to withdraw owing to scheduling conflicts. The New Yorker was the first to break the news of the casting walkout.
When reached by Variety, a representative for Styles confirmed the report. If Harry Styles hadn't backed out of the project, “Nosferatu” would have teamed the Grammy-winning actor and “Dunkirk” star with Anya Taylor-Joy.
Variety first reported in 2017 that filmmaker Robert Eggers, of “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse,” was developing his own “Nosferatu” film, starring Taylor-Joy, who collaborated with Eggers on their smash indie “The Witch.” The film is currently in production. In theatres on April 22, “The Northman,” directed by Dave Eggers and starring Anya Taylor-Joy, will premiere.
As a result of COVID's decision to postpone production on “The Northman” until 2020, director Boris Karloff's plans for “Nosferatu” have remained uncertain. This year, Eggers confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that he and Taylor-Joy are still in discussions to produce the picture, which will be a remake of F. W. Murnau's iconic 1922 vampire film.
Eggers has always considered the film “Nosferatu” by F.W. Murnau to be one of his favorite works of art. According to the filmmaker, “It was an independent horror film back in the day, a little rough around the edges, but it's one of the finest and most terrifying movies ever created,” he told Shudder.
The color-tinted copies that have been recently restored are magnificent, but I still prefer the terrible black-and-white reproductions that have been created from 16mm print scraps. They have an eerie atmosphere about them, and they have added to the notion of Max Shreck being a true vampire,” says the author.
The filmography of Styles already includes Christopher Nolan's “Dunkirk,” Chloe Zhao's “Eternals” (in which he appeared in a post-credits sequence, paving the way for future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Olivia Wilde's “Don't Worry Darling,” which stars Florence Pugh, and Michael Grandage's upcoming “My Policeman” (all directed by Michael Grandage).
Nosferatu: Release Date
Styles co-stars with “The Crown” breakout Emma Corrin in the latter picture, which is set in the 1950s and centers on a gay police officer. Bethan Roberts' work will serve as the inspiration for the drama, which will debut in the fall.
Before releasing “My Policeman,” Styles will release his third studio album. Early this month, the musician announced that “Harry's House” will be released on May 20th, as previously reported.
Styles' self-titled debut in 2017 and his critically-lauded follow-up album “Fine Line” from 2019, which earned him a Grammy for best pop solo performance for the song “Watermelon Sugar,” were both released in 2017. It will be released on April 22, 2022, and the first song from “Harry's House,” “As It Was,” will be released.

Nosferatu: Storyline
Following the release of his debut feature The Witch six years ago, filmmaker Robert Eggers received good reviews, sparking anticipation that the industry newcomer may take on a remake of the “original Dracula” film, Nosferatu.
While it's normal for a novice filmmaker to want to establish a name for themselves by remaking a well-known film, that wasn't the case with Eggers, who was immediately taken with the film and the idea of bringing it to life in a new way from the beginning.
Even though Anya Taylor-Joy, star of The Witch, was reportedly in talks to star in the movie at one point, there has been no further word on the development. Up to this point, it appears that this has been the case.
Anya Taylor-Joy was featured in a profile report by the Los Angeles Times, and among her other potential jobs was a mention of Nosferatu and the possibility that production may begin as early as late next year.
The actress is in high demand right now, with filming about to begin on the black comedy The Menu, which will be followed by the Mad Max feature Furiosa, which will shoot in Australia in early 2022, both of which will star the actress.
Finally, Nosferatu, which, while it has no set start date, based on the general timeframe of movie production, will most likely not begin before the end of 2022, does serve as the first indication that, if she has committed schedule time to the film, it will take place. Following that is the thriller Laughter in the Dark.
In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Robert Eggers stated, “The difficulty is that I don't want to use titles because I used all of them the last time around.” And, while Saint Guillermo del Toro does it all the time and no one seems to notice, I couldn't care less because I'm now working on another picture in the meantime. If it happens, I'll know for sure if it's the next one when I'm on set, hollering “action,” as they say in the industry.”
Even though you could be forgiven for assuming that this is merely an instance in which a successful horror director is approached to assist in the exploitation of an older classic, this does not appear to be the case in this instance, as Eggers has a long relationship with the unlicensed Dracula picture.
It was because of the director's high school theatre production of the play that he was invited to direct a professional version of the play. He'll be adapting Nosferatu for the big screen for the third time, so you can rest assured that it'll be in fine hands. Nosferatu is a 1931 silent film directed by Ernst Lubitsch.
Even though it was the subject of lawsuits from the Stoker estate, one of which resulted in an order for all copies of the film to be destroyed – although, thankfully, a few surviving prints are what keep the film alive today – the first edition of Nosferatu was released in 1922 and has since been referenced by a variety of other media, including movies, television, and even the music video for Queen's Under Pressure.
Nosferatu: Cast And Crew
It's one of the most annoying things about being a movie fan to have to put up with brilliant casting choices that don't pan out in the end. A great many of them have been produced in the past, and there will be many more in the future.
Today, the news that Harry Styles, the star of “Dunkirk” and a former member of One Direction, was supposed to star with Ana Taylor-Joy in Robert Eggers' version of “Nosferatu,” but ultimately opted out, has left me feeling particularly unhappy. According to a New Yorker feature, Eggers was supposed to be in Prague at the time of the interview, when he was scheduled to begin preproduction on his adaptation of “Nosferatu.” However, Eggers was not in Prague at the time of the interview. It was originally planned for Taylor-Joy and Styles to star in Eggers' reimagined version of F. W. Murnau's silent vampire film from 1922, “The Witch,” which may have been her breakthrough role.

A paparazzi photographer captured images of Styles and Eggers in June 2021, but because of the director's unassuming “poster boy for a Bushwick hipster” appearance, as he defines it in his biography, it appears that few people noticed Styles and Eggers as they walked around London.
However, although it is unclear what role the singer would've performed in the film, he appears to have played Ellen Hutter's husband, Thomas, opposite Taylor-Joy in the trailers released thus far.
According to the New Yorker piece, Eggers co-directed an original theatrical production of the 1922 films while still in high school, according to the article. When Max and Sam Eggers played motionless gargoyles in his remake, he demonstrated his reverence for the original film by painting them grey. Max and Sam Eggers were the youngest of Eggers' twin brothers.
