Norman Reedus's Walking Dead Spinoff Reveals the First Information
The setting of The Walking Dead spinoff series, which stars Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, has been revealed by Scott M. Gimple.
The Daryl and Carol spinoff, which Gimple and Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang first teased in September 2020, was to follow Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) as they embark on a zombie apocalypse road trip following The Walking Dead series finale.
However, the continuation of the original series, which will conclude this fall after eleven seasons and its final eight episodes, will instead follow Daryl on a mission abroad.
Since moving to France, where the untitled spinoff will film and take place, was “logistically untenable” for the veteran Walking Dead actress, McBride withdrew from the project in April.
Shortly after A.M.C. announced McBride's resignation, Kang, who was set to serve as showrunner on the Daryl and Carol spinoff, left the project.
This year will see the filming of the as-yet-untitled Daryl solo series, with David Zabel serving as showrunner.
Reedus reminded the Comic-Con audience during The Walking Dead's final series panel in July that Carol and Daryl's story isn't over yet.

“Melissa found it logistically impossible to move to Europe at this point. The Walking Dead Universe continues to develop and extend in intriguing ways, and while we are aware that fans will be disappointed by this news, we sincerely hope to see Carol again soon.”
