Naomi Judd was an American country singer. She was born Diana Ellen Judd on January 11, 1946, and died on April 30, 2022. In 1980, she and her daughter Wynonna started a country music duo called The Judds.
They were very successful, winning five Grammys and nine Country Music Association awards. Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis in 1991, so The Judds stopped performing. Wynonna kept performing as a solo artist, and sometimes she went on tours with her mother as The Judds.
Naomi had problems with her mental health her whole life. She killed herself with a gun on April 30, 2022, the day before she and Wynonna were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Judd killed herself with a gun at her home in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee, on April 30, 2022. She was 76 years old. She had been struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and thoughts of killing herself for a long time.
Lithium, one of the medicines she was given, gave her side effects like facial swelling, hair loss, and tremors, which made her feel even worse. Her daughters tweeted about her death: “Today we sisters went through a tragedy.
We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness.” Ashley Judd told Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America on May 12, 2022, what caused her mother to die.
She told the truth to bring attention to mental illness, which she hoped would help people who were suffering from it. She also said that she and the rest of the family didn't want to hear about how the person died from someone else.
