Top 10 Movies Like Escape Room to Binge Next!

You don't have to be claustrophobic to fear being imprisoned. Torture on all levels: physical, psychological, and emotional. You have no concept of time, space, or self. Your entire existence becomes a single desire: to get away. Movies Like Escape Room

Being confined is a horrible experience that no one wants, but people are strange creatures. As much as we would like not to experience something terrible, we are interested in how it would feel, which is why we enjoy movies so much since they allow us to experience things from the safety of behind our screens.

We're intrigued by the idea of being trapped, and a film like Escape Room allows us to do so. However, this is insufficient. Because not all enclosed rooms are the same, we've compiled a list of the ten most horrifying places worse than Escape Room. Let's take a look at the Top 10 Movies like Escape Room. Movies Like Escape Room

10. No Escape

Movies Like Escape Room

This film is set in an escape room, which is comparable to Escape Room. The film, also known as Follow Me, is about social media star Cole Turner, who travels to Russia with a group of pals to participate in an elite escape room. As you can expect, things don't go as planned, and Cole and his friends are forced to battle for their lives.

Forget the IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings; No Escape has enough cheap thrills to frighten you and makes for entertaining viewing. Also, don't confuse it with the Owen Wilson and Sandara Bullock film of the same name. That's a completely different film.

9. Buried

Movies Like Escape Room

This might probably be the most terrifying place to be trapped in on this list. Confined places create heart palpitations on their own, but when they bury you beneath the earth…well. That's the basis of Buried, a 2010 psychological thriller.

Ryan Reynolds plays Paul Conroy, an American truck driver stationed in Iraq who awakens in the worst imaginable situation: buried alive in a wooden coffin with just a lighter, flashlight, and a cell phone. Not exactly rescue materials, especially six feet underground.

In all honesty, even from behind your screen, this film is enough to give you claustrophobia and a terrible case of anxiety. Buried was well-praised at its premiere and garnered favorable reviews from a number of critics, with Rotten Tomatoes awarding the picture an 86% rating. Buried is a must-see film, despite its panic-inducing claustrophobia. Just remember to take deep breaths.

8. The Hunt

Movies Like Escape Room

This film comes from Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind Get Out and The Purge, and was co-written by Damon Lindelof, the man behind HBO's The Leftovers, so you know it'll be awesome. The Hunt makes up for what Escape Room lacks in plot and complexity. It's a satirical horror/thriller film in which privileged Americans stalk “deplorable” for amusement… until the tables are turned.

The film nearly missed being released entirely due to the political context at the time of its release date — and its failure to be released was almost as contentious as the film itself. Still, with Hilary Swank, Justin Hartley, Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts, Ike Barinholtz, and others in the cast, it's well worth seeing.

7. The Running Man

Movies Like Escape Room

Based on Stephen King's short novel, this 1980s sci-fi actioner stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a wrongfully convicted prisoner forced to compete in the game show The Running Man. He and several others are pursuing sports, and the show is seen by millions of people across the world.

The Running Man lacks much of King's social commentary, but it is the ideal vehicle for Arnie to spout one-liners and let his muscles do the talking. The casting of Richard Dawson as the sleazy game show presenter Damon Killian is brilliant.

6. The Purge

Movies Like Escape Room

If you haven't seen any of the Purge film franchises but have watched Escape Room multiple times, you should. Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey play two parents struggling to keep themselves and their two children alive during a government-sanctioned 12-hour period in which everyone is free to carry out their most twisted, violent, deadly dreams. It's not the ideal family holiday, but it does provide a satisfying dose of dread.

5. Don't Breathe

Don't Breathe and its sequel, Don't Breathe 2, are about three thieves who sneak into the home of a blind vet only to discover that they won't get away with it so easily. Consider the film Home Alone, but with actual torture.

The film “twists its robust premise to offer a satisfyingly suspenseful, unsettling addition to the home invasion genre that's all the more effective for its simplicity,” according to the tough critics at Rotten Tomatoes. Not too shabby.

4. #Horror

Movies Like Escape Room

A gang of privileged seventh graders finds themselves getting eliminated one by one as the stakes get higher in an online game that quickly spirals out of control. There isn't anything groundbreaking in #Horror, but there is plenty of action to keep you engaged. Chlo Sevigny, Timothy Hutton, Natasha Lyonne, Balthazar Getty, and Taryn Manning are all fantastic as part of the stellar ensemble group.

3.  The Belko Experiment

The Belko Experiment is an enjoyable horror film set in an office building, directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and written by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). Eighty workers for Belko discover they are actually subjects in a deadly experiment in which they must eliminate one another until only one remains.

The situation quickly devolves into anarchy as some participants take pleasure in the slaughter while others desperately try to flee the building without themselves becoming a victim. Michael Rooker, Tony Goldwyn, Melonie Diaz, John C. McGinley, and Adria Arjona all give excellent performances, and the rest of the cast is just as strong.

2. Moon

Being adrift in space may seem like a fun adventure, but it quickly loses its appeal when you remember that you can't just drop down to Earth whenever you choose. In Moon, performed by Sam Rockwell, we follow Sam Bell, an astronaut who has been on a mission for three years and is now imprisoned in space by himself.

After three years on the job, he is set to be relieved by a new team when an accident interrupts his progress. The unusual turn of events is precipitated by the onset of hallucinations brought on by his accident-related injuries.

1. Cube

Movies Like Escape Room

The film Cube is the one on this list that most closely resembles Escape Room since it follows seven random people who find themselves locked in a cube-shaped prison with no memory of how they got there. Both the inmates and their cube-shaped cells, some of which are set up with deadly traps, display a wide spectrum of skills and abilities.
