Moon Knight: When is it releasing on Disney Plus?

The Moon Knight trailer for the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe television series has finally been released, giving fans their first look at Oscar Isaac in the role of the titular character.

‘The series revolves around Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee who is plagued by blackouts and flashbacks to a previous life,' according to the official synopsis. “Steven learns that he suffers from dissociative identity disorder and that he shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector.” They must navigate their complicated identities while being thrust into a deadly mystery involving the powerful gods of Egypt as Steven/enemies Marc's close in on them.

As it turns out, the Moon Knight trailer gives viewers a glimpse into Steven's fractured reality, as Ethan Hawke's antagonist encourages Steven/Marc to “accept chaos.” Steven then transforms into the superhero named after him, which serves as the title of the film.

Following the success of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, it's hardly surprising that Marvel is bringing a slew of new Disney Plus TV series to our screens in 2022.

Moon Knight Disney Plus release date

The Moon Knight trailer also confirmed that the TV series will premiere on Disney Plus on March 30, 2022, as previously announced.

Disney Plus is available for £79.90 per year or £7.99 per month if you sign up for an annual subscription.

The series was originally scheduled to begin filming in Atlanta in November 2020, but ongoing coronavirus restrictions may have caused the production to be delayed while Disney focuses on earlier series in the franchise. Filming began in April 2021 in Budapest and was scheduled to wrap up in October of that year.

According to producer Kevin Feige, Moon Knight will be divided into six episodes, each of which will last between 40 and 50 minutes in length.

Is there a trailer?

This year's Disney Plus Day featured the exclusive premiere of the first episode of the series Moon Knight, which was shown exclusively on the streaming service.

The scenes featured Oscar Isaac in the lead role, who admitted that he has difficulty distinguishing between his dreams and his waking life in one of the scenes.

His appearance in the film includes him staring in the mirror of a bathroom, seemingly disturbed, as well as being shown in the vicinity of some ancient Egyptian artifacts, which are in keeping with the character's comic book history.

There are also some shots of Isaac dressed up as Moon Knight, but he is mostly obscured by the camera, as he is seen from behind or running across a city skyline in the middle of the night.

  • Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight/Marc Spector/Steven Grant
  • Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow
  • May Calamawy as TBC
  • Gaspard Ulliel as Midnight Man/Anton Mogart
  • Lucy Thackeray as Donna

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ethan Hawke will appear alongside Isaac in an undisclosed villainous role, and May Calamawy has also been cast in the series as a supporting character.

Moon Knight's writing team will be led by Jeremy Slater, who previously worked on the Netflix adaptation of the superhero drama The Umbrella Academy.

Slater has previously worked on projects such as Josh Trank's ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot, Netflix's Death Note adaptation, and the brief Exorcist television series, among others.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Mohamed Diab would serve as a director on the project, though this has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios in writing.

What role does Gaspard Ulliel play in Moon Knight?

Moon Knight

Moon Knight stars French actor Gaspard Ulliel as Midnight Man/Anton Mogart, who is played by Gaspard Ulliel.

After finishing filming for his role in Moon Knight, the actor died in a skiing accident in January 2022 when he was 37 years old.

Midnight Man appears in comic books as a costumed criminal who participated in high-profit thefts and struck frequently at midnight, thus earning him the name Midnight Man.

Additionally, in addition to his various confrontations with Moon Knight in the comics, Mogart was also the father of the character Jeff Wilde, who later went on to become a Moon Knight sidekick known as Midnight.

It is currently unknown how many episodes Ulliel will appear in as Mogart during his tenure on the show.

What are the powers of Moon Knight?

Moon Knight

That is, after all, the question. With a large number of alter egos, Marc Spector can gather information from anywhere in the world without being detected or identified. His names are Jake Lockley, and he is married to Steven Grant, who is a socialite and millionaire in the style of Bruce Wayne.

His identity, as well as his backstory, have changed over the course of his appearances in comic books. In some versions, he is endowed with superhuman abilities, as if he were the Moon God Khonshu's vessel. In the eyes of others, he is merely a mortal.

Whether the show's writing team will go in a more superheroic direction with this series is still up in the air, though hints suggest that Moon Knight will be given some sort of superpower in the new series.
