Decentraland is ready to celebrate Pride! In addition to the already announced events, the Metaverse Pride month-long celebration this year will feature a slew of other activities for the community. Pride Month is going to be a wild time, so make sure you clear your calendar.
This year's Metaverse Pride will be centered around the Festival Land neighborhood, which has been decorated in rainbows for the event. After arriving at the Pride Parade, which is the event's main draw, you'll be able to visit this area and claim free Wearables in addition to riding around on wacky rainbow floats. There will be a smattering of teleporters to various Decentraland locales commemorating Pride Month.
Pride in the Metaverse Creates Open Access
According to Akbar Hamid, co-founder of Individuals of Crypto Lab (POC), an innovation hub focused on boosting diversity and representation in Web3, the Metaverse is a wonderful method for people all over the world to engage in events they would not be able to attend otherwise. “We want Pride Month 2022 to be an event that anyone can attend, even if they are not allowed to participate,” he said.
Although many areas publicly celebrate Pride Month, being LGBTQ+ is currently illegal in 71 nations. To combat this, POC teamed with The Sandbox, a blockchain-based metaverse project, to build a virtual diversity, equity, and inclusivity hub during Pride Month. This unique youth center, known as Valley of Belonging, will allow people all across the world to celebrate, according to Hamid:

Metaverse Pride Parade
The Metaverse Pride march, which will take place at the primary hub of the celebration's activities, will commence on June 11 at 9 pm UTC and will be followed by incredible performances on the Rainbow Stage.
After its great debut, the parade will run live, 24/7 until the end of June, allowing everyone to come by and ride on one (or all!) of the colorful and flamboyant floats even if they are unable to attend the parade's grand opening.
Parade Highlights:
- During the parade, pop superstar Thalia will have her own flashy float, which will be accompanied by other blockchain ventures such as the Immersive Kind and Known Origin.
- Original Penguin has designed a tangible pride collection to benefit the group AllOut, and the collection's digital twins are being brought to Decentraland as Wearables for the community to wear throughout Pride Month.
- HUG, Web3's friendliest community of makers and collectors, is introducing a huggable Glitter Robot as a tribute to its objective of leveling the playing field and encouraging inclusivity.
- MyBFF, a Web3 community, will exhibit floats made by the community as well as their own, beautiful rainbow Zeppelin that will float during the parade. BFF is an open-access network founded by 100+ industry experts with the goal of educating, connecting, and empowering women and non-binary individuals in Web3.
- Other Web3 communities, such as UnicornDAO and QueerCapita, will showcase works that reflect the diversity of the digital design environment.
