After Jennifer Lopez's terrible collapse, Mariah Carey is preparing for a lucrative concert comeback. An insider exclusively tells In Touch that this has sparked even more animosity between the two divas who have detested one another for decades.
“Mariah is eager to return to Vegas and hopes to demonstrate that she remains the best in the business when it comes to producing a show and generating revenue from tickets,” the insider told In Touch.
“She is particularly eager to demonstrate her continued strength in light of J. Lo's need to postpone her concert tour.”
The 55-year-old Mariah has been keeping “extremely close tabs on Jennifer's fall on her face” and her marital troubles with Ben Affleck since the postponement of her tour.
The insider goes on, “She feels like it's karma biting her in the butt because she's not as talented as she thinks and way too arrogant.” “Mariah planning all these big concert dates is a huge kick in the teeth for J. Lo, especially since she knows how much she's been trash talking her and laughing about her divorce to boot.”
Due to their “many friends in common,” Mariah and Jennifer, 55, had heard “it all second and third hand,” according to the Wedding Planner star.
She will now have to endure the humiliation of witnessing Mariah walk onto the stage. However, J. Lo isn't giving up; after this chaos passes, she hopes to get back up and resume the tour, the insider continues. “And fighting against Mariah to win her holiday fan base will be a major source of motivation.
It's difficult to assume she would be planning so far ahead, but that's J. Lo for you—she's never without a strategy.
Just one month before it was supposed to begin on June 24, Jennifer announced on May 31 that she was canceling her This Is Me… Live: The Greatest Hits tour.
She said on her On the J. Lo. website, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down.” “Please understand that if I didn't think this was absolutely necessary, I wouldn't do it.”
The drama between Mariah and Jennifer dates back to 1999, when the singer of “On the Floor” obtained a record deal and started working with Mariah's ex-husband Tommy Mottola. In a 2008 interview, Mariah famously said, “I don't know her,” in response to a question on Jennifer.
Mariah plans to mark the 30th anniversary of her classic song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by going on a 20-city tour from early November to mid-December, whereas Jennifer appears to be taking a break from her career.
“I have some great news, but it's not quite time! Beginning on November 6, 2024, Mariah Carey's Christmas Time, her largest holiday tour to date, will visit 20 cities! She had earlier posted on August 2 on social media. “Ticket sales begin on Friday, August 9th!”
Several followers flocked to the comments section to express their enthusiasm shortly after she made the announcement. One guy said, “It's time to start decorating when Mother says it's Christmas time.”
