Madonna is well-known for her ability to constantly reinvent herself as a musician, songwriter, and visual artist.

She has pushed the frontiers of creative expression in popular music while remaining in complete control of her career.  Many people disagree with her work because of the way it deals with a variety of social, political, sexual, and religious issues.

In 1978, Madonna made the decision to go to New York City in order to pursue a professional dancing career in contemporary dance. When she released her debut studio album titled Madonna, she became an overnight sensation in the music industry (1983).

Like a Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986), and The Immaculate Collection (1990) were all-time best-sellers, while Grammy Award winners Ray of Light (1998) and Confessions on a Dance Floor (2001) were Grammy Award winners (2005).

Like a Virgin, La Isla Bonita, Like a Prayer, Vogue, Take a Bow, Frozen, Take a Bow, Music, Hung Up, and 4 Minutes are just some of Madonna’s numerous number one songs.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

She was born on August 16th, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan, as Madonna Louise Ciccone. Eventually, she and her family relocated to Rochester Hills, Michigan, where she began studying dance and received a dance scholarship to attend the University of Michigan.

Her dancing career took off after she dropped out of college in 1978 and she relocated to New York City to pursue it full time. Madonna began advertising herself as a solo artist and obtained a record deal with Sire Records after playing in bands including “The Breakfast Club” and “Emmy.”

It is estimated that Madonna’s art collection is worth at least $100 million, but it may be worth much more if a suitable market is available. In addition to works by Picasso, Diego Rivera, Damien Hirst, and Marilyn Minter, she possesses one of only five paintings by Frida Kahlo.

Real Estate

Madonna has a sizable real estate portfolio that includes properties in countries across the world. SEVEN homes in London were once under her control. Some of these may have been traded to Guy Richie following their divorce; however, the exact number she still holds is unknown.

Madonna spent just under $9 million for a 5.5-acre estate in Sintra, Portugal, in September 2017. When she sold her $16 million New York condo in 2013, she had owned it for several years and had accumulated 6,000 square feet of living space. Despite this, she still has a smaller apartment in the same building, for which she paid $7 million in 2008.

That’s not her only New York City residence, however! There is a two-car garage and nine fireplaces, a wine cellar, and an elevator in the 12,000-square-foot townhouse she purchased in 2009. She also has a $7 million equestrian estate in Bridgehampton, New York, which she bought in two deals in 2010 for a total of 50 acres.

Madonna spent $12 million on a Beverly Hills property in 2003 when she married Guy Richie. The seller was actress Sela Ward and her venture capitalist husband Howard Sherman.

The house, which sat on 1.25 gated acres, included 17,000 square feet of living space, nine bedrooms, a home theatre, a gym, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. For $28 million, she put the house on the market in 2012.

She relisted it in 2013 for $22.5 million, and it sold for $19.5 million later that year. Russell Weiner, the originator of Rockstar energy drink, purchased the property. Astoundingly, Russ put the property on the market in 2018 for a whopping $35 million!

At a price of $20 million in April 2021, Madonna purchased The Weeknd’s Hidden Hills house in California. Madonna will list this property in April 2022 for $26 million.
