Based on the children's book series Lyle the Crocodile from the 1960s, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile The Primm family moves into a Victorian brownstone in the first novel, The House on 88th Street, only to find out there is already a unique tenant within their bathtub.
In the second novel, which also has the same name as the movie, Lyle is implicated by a disgruntled neighbor and meets up with an old performance partner. According to the trailer's clips and the plot summary from Animationmagazine.net below, the movie will be a combination of the first and second books in the series.

Directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Blades of Glory and Cavemen from 2007) are responsible for Lyle, Lyle, and Crocodile. The script is ascribed to William Davies (1988's Twins, 2010's How to Train Your Dragon, and 2011's Puss in Boots). Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will write unique songs for the movie's musical component (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen).
