Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the latest game in the Lego Star Wars series from TT Games, has been given an official release date of April 5, 2022, after several delays.
As the first Lego Star Wars game since 2016's The Force Awakens, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks like its most ambitious addition to the series yet, covering all nine of the core Star Wars movies and allowing players access to hundreds of playable characters from every era of the Star Wars timeline.
In order to “make their own personal voyage around the galaxy,” players will be able to visit many of the movie's iconic locations “in whatever sequence they desire.”
This is great news for long-time fans, as well as for newbies to the franchise. The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett TV series on Disney+ may have gotten some new fans interested in the galaxy far, far away.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Release Date
It is presently planned for release on April 5, 2022, in the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga film series.
Due to a challenging production process, the game's release date has been announced as January 2022 after a few delays for the game were experienced.
Following the failure to meet an October 2020 release window, the game attempted to meet a ‘Spring 2021' release target but failed miserably.
Following an announcement at Gamescom 2021, we were told that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would be released in ‘Spring 2022,' which has now been narrowed down to April 5, 2022.
Trailer
We had, of course, already seen a few minutes of gameplay from the game prior to the Gamescom announcement trailer.
We were treated to a reveal trailer back in January of this year, which showcased the franchise's glitzy new visual style, as well as the series' signature humor, albeit in a teaser that didn't appear to demonstrate actual gameplay:
