Originally from Soweto, Mbau rose to fame as Doobsie in the SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango in 1997 (2004–2005) as Mbali in the SABC 1 soap opera Mzansi; and as After Nine in the SABC 1 mini-series Mzansi The Scoop, The Big Secret on BET Africa, and Abomama's Tshidi on Mzansi Magic are some of her current roles.
Early life
After Lindiwe Chibi was shot by her boyfriend Dan Mokoena in 2004, Mbau took over the role of Doobsie on Muvhango.
She was fired from the position a year later, supposedly because she was spending too much time partying and appearing in the Sunday tabloids. In the second season of Mzansi, Mbau was cast as Mbali, a character he had previously appeared in.
The show was not picked up for a third season by SABC 1. Mbau went on to play Zee in the SABC 1 mini-series After 9 later that year.
In 2012, she served as a special guest judge on SABC 1's Turn It Out for the second time. Actress Ekasi: Our Stories appeared on E.tv's anthology series Ekasi: Our Stories in 2013.
