Kate Noelle Holmes (born December 18, 1978) is an American actress. On Dawson's Creek (1998–2003), she became famous as Joey Potter. In 1997, Holmes made her feature film debut in Ang Lee's The Ice Storm as a supporting actress.

Modeling Career
To prepare for the 1996 International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) Competition in New York City, Holmes attended a Toledo modeling school at the age of fourteen.
Afterward, she was signed to an agency, that sent out her audition tape to the casting director of “The Ice Storm” (1997). She made her big-screen début in this picture with Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver, who played her co-stars.
