She is an American actor, comedian, and writer, Kate McKinnon Berthold. She is most known for her character work and celebrity impressions on the sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live (2012–2022), of which she was a cast member for ten seasons, and formerly The Big Gay Sketch Show (2007–2010). (2019). In the miniseries Joe vs. Carole, she portrays Carole Baskin, a Tiger King subject.
Nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and eight for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, have been awarded to McKinnon.
Early Life
She was born on January 6, 1984, in Sea Cliff, New York, to Kathryn McKinnon Berthold. Kate's father died when she was 18 years old, leaving her to raise her younger sister in a middle-class household. McKinnon had a lifelong passion for music as a child, mastering the piano, cello, and guitar among others.
From an early age, she also dabbled in acting and impressions. One of her first recollections of acting was when she impersonated the Queen of England in front of her fifth-grade classmates with an English accent.

Career
When she joined the cast of “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” Kate's career took off. McKinnon remained a regular cast member for the next three seasons. She also began her voice acting career and appeared in live sketch shows in New York City during this time frame as well.
