Early life

Wellington, New Zealand, is where urban was born. A leather goods shop run by his German immigrant father and a job at Film Facilities in Wellington formerly occupied his parents' resumes.

As a result of his mother's influence, young Urban acquired a passion for vintage New Zealand filmmaking and a desire to work in it. St. Mark's Church School was where Urban first developed a liking for public speaking.
