Jurassic World 3: Everything you need to know about Dominion’s release date, trailer, cast, and more

When Jurassic World 3 opens in theaters in June of this year, it is expected to be one of the year's biggest blockbusters (barring an unexpected delay, of course).

The third Jurassic World film, officially titled Jurassic World: Dominion, has been completed ahead of its June 2022 release. Previously, Universal released a prologue to serve as a teaser for the main event, and now we just have to wait for the first full trailer to be released.

We've already begun to see some new images from the film, including Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire in peril, Chris Pratt's Owen being pursued by a dangerous new raptor, and DeWanda Wise's mysterious character making her debut.

There's a lot to be excited about in Jurassic World: Dominion, so without further ado, here's everything you need to know about the film.

Jurassic World 3 Release Date

Jurassic World 3

It has been announced that Jurassic World: Dominion will be released in theaters on June 10, 2022, a year after the film's original June 2021 release date.

As previously stated, writer/director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed that the threequel will be completed prior to its theatrical release, so all we have to do now is cross our fingers and hope that it will not be subjected to yet another delay.

Filming began in February 2020 and was suspended in March, but the film was the first major blockbuster to resume production in the United Kingdom in July, and it is scheduled to be completed in November of that year.

Jurassic World 3 cast: Who's back for the sequel?

Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, will return for a second time.

As a result of the dinosaurs' successful escape into reality at the conclusion of Fallen Kingdom, director Colin Trevorrow has revealed that Owen will continue to try to assist them when we see him again in the third film.

“The parasaurs are in danger of being hunted down for their meat. A lot of shady characters are out there who want to get their hands on dinosaurs, so he's doing everything he can to keep them safe “He went on to explain.

When it comes to Claire, Trevorrow has remained tight-lipped about where we find her at the start of Dominion, but she has stated that she is “questioning her methods and whether she can stay safe”

Of course, Pratt and Howard aren't the only stars who will be returning for the third installment, and we'll get to the real big names in a minute.

First and foremost, Isabella Sermon will reprise her role as Maisie Lockwood, the genetically engineered daughter of John Hammond's former business partner Sir Benjamin Lockwood.

Also confirmed is that Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda will reprise their roles as Franklin Webb and Zia Rodriguez, with Omar Sy reprising his role as velociraptor trainer Barry Sembene, who previously appeared in Lupin III.

Following his absence from the sequel, we had anticipated Jake Johnson to reprise his role as Lowery, but that is no longer the case. In August 2021, the actor revealed that scheduling conflicts prevented him from reprising his role in the movie.

Dr. Henry Wu, played by BD Wong, will also be returning, and it is hoped that he will finally get his comeuppance this season. However, he will not be the only Jurassic Park star to return for the trilogy's conclusion.

Despite the fact that Jeff Goldblum reprised his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, he only had a brief appearance on the big screen. Fans of the original need not be concerned, as Goldblum will return to the film alongside Sam Neill and Laura Dern.

Jurassic World 3

Trevorrow has also stated that the original trio will have “as much screen time in the film as Bryce and Chris do” adding that “They're not together the entire time, but we are following both of their stories equally.”

However, while Pratt previously hinted that everyone would be returning, there has yet to be any official word on whether Ariana Richards (from the Jurassic Park films), Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore (from the Lost World films), William H Macy, Téa Leoni (from Jurassic Park III), or Lauren Lapkus will be returning (Jurassic World).

Campbell Scott, also known as Lewis Dodgson, aka the shady man in shades who handed Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) the phony can of shaving cream that was used to store dinosaur embryos, could be the film's villain. Campbell Scott, aka Lewis Dodgson, is a classic character who has returned to the screen and could be playing the role.

Considering Dodgson was a bit of an unresolved plot point in the first film, we're glad to see him return. Let's hope he brings his black market super-spy shenanigans back with him, perhaps in the form of an empty Kinder Surprise packet in which to hide a dinosaur egg or something similar.

Is there a trailer?

The five-minute prologue to Jurassic World, as previously mentioned, provides us with some (sort of) new Jurassic World footage to look forward to.

Due to the fact that it is now a stand-alone sequence, it is not quite a trailer for the upcoming film, but it will suffice as a placeholder until a proper trailer is released. We'd anticipate seeing something in early 2022, assuming the film is completed, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Jurassic World 3 Plot

As a follow-up to the dramatic cliffhanger that saw dinosaurs released into the real world in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the 2019 short film Battle at Big Rock teased the new world order that we'll be seeing in the third film.

As Dominion is set in 2022, the third film, according to Trevorrow, will pick up three years after this short film and will take place three years after that. In his own words, “Everything in my mind has always been pretty much present-day,” he explained.
