Joseph Glenn Herbert Sr, better known by Jo Koy, is a stand-up comedian from the United States. He was a regular panelist on Elate-night !’s show Chelsea Lately, which aired every week. Since then, he has appeared in other Comedy Central and Netflix specials.
Early Life of Jo Koy
Jo Koy was born on June 2, 1971, in Tacoma, Washington. After marrying Koy’s Filipino mother, a manager for a Filipino rock band, Koy’s American father was stationed in the Philippines while serving in the United States Air Force.
Jo’s parents split when she was 13 years old, and after that, his mother was responsible for raising all of their children on her own. As soon as he completed his high school education in Tacoma, Washington, his family relocated to Los Vegas.
The family needed to relocate to Los Vegas to be closer to Jo’s elderly grandmother. His childhood moniker inspired Jo’s stage name, which he adopted at eighteen. When asked about his acting and comic abilities, Jo attributes them to his mother, who he constantly mentions in his stand-up routines.

Joe hired the Huntridge Theater and went door to door selling tickets to his comedy performances after appearing at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. On BET’s “Comic View,” he was invited to appear.

‘The Michael Yo and Jo Koy Show’ was launched by Jo on July 23, 2012, with the help of comedian and TV personality Michael Yo. The comic is still on the road and maybe heard on “The Adam Carolla Show,” a podcast he appears every week. He has also performed stand-up in front of audiences as large as 10,000 people on the Carlos Mencia Punisher Tour.
“Don’t Make Him Angry” and “Lights Out” are two of Koy’s most popular Comedy Central programs. On March 28, 2017, Netflix broadcast “Jo Koy: Life from Seattle,” his third comedy special. “Joy Koy: Comin’ In Hot” was released on Netflix in June 2019.
Koy did two gigs at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado, in February 2019 as part of the renowned Aspen Laugh Festival’s closing night. “Jo Koy: In His Elements” will be published by Netflix and Koy on June 12, 2020. DJs and the B-Boys were among the performers in the program.
