Gerald Norman Springer (born February 13, 1944) is a British-born American broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, and former lawyer and politician who is best known for his work on the BBC and in the media.
Between September 30, 1991, to July 26, 2018, he presented the tabloid talk program Jerry Springer, and in 2015, he launched the Jerry Springer Podcast, which continues to this day. Since September of this year, Springer has served as the host of the courtroom show Judge Jerry.

Early Life
Gerald Norman Springer was born on February 13, 1944, in Highgate, London, England, to a Jewish family. While people were fleeing German bombardment in the London Underground station of Highgate during World War II, he was really born there while many were sheltering from the Germans. His parents were originally from Germany and managed to flee the Nazis.
Tragically, numerous members of Jerry's family, including his maternal grandmother, were killed in concentration camps throughout the course of their lives. His family moved to Queens, New York, in January 1949 after emigrating to the United States.
Jerry went to Forest Hills High School in Los Angeles. He received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in 1965, followed by a J.D. from Northwestern University in 1968, all of which were awarded in 1965. While still a student at Tulane University, Springer worked as a broadcaster for WTUL New Orleans FM, a college radio station in the greater New Orleans area.
Career
After graduating from college, Springer accepted a position with a legal company in Ohio. He subsequently began his political career as a result of this experience. He worked as a campaign strategist for Robert F. Kennedy for a period of time.
Jerry continued to practice law in Cincinnati following the killing of President John F. Kennedy. In 1973, he was elected to the city council. Between then and now, he's created a name for himself in television, mostly as a political analyst and news presenter. Jerry was elected as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati in a landslide victory in 1977 and served in that position until 1978. In 1982, he ran for governor of Ohio, but he did not receive the candidacy of his party.
During his tenure as mayor of Cincinnati, he hosted a series of radio broadcasts on WEBN-FM dubbed “The Springer Memorandum,” which were broadcast nationally. Springer's broadcasting career was established as a result of the success of his remarks.
A political reporter has been hired by the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, WLWT, to work as a political reporter. When Springer joined the team, it was the lowest-rated news show in the Cincinnati market at the time. Springer became the most well-known news anchor in the city two years after his debut. For the next five years, he maintained his position as the most popular anchor. For his efforts, he was awarded ten local Emmys.

On May 16, 2008, Springer delivered the graduating address at Northwestern University School of Law in Evanston, Illinois. He earned a standing ovation from almost half of the crowd and the majority of those who attended thought his speech was excellent. Subsequently, his lecture was on “the ethical judgments we all have to make regardless of the industry in which our businesses operate.”
Jerry Springer relocated his program from Chicago, where it had been recorded since 1991, to Stamford, Connecticut, in 2009.
Mr. Springer traveled from his hometown of Sarasota in Florida to Connecticut every Monday and Tuesday to record episodes of the television show “Judge Jerry.” At another Kentucky studio, he also produced a weekly podcast, which is available online. A supporter of Democratic candidates for political office, he travels throughout the country to show his support.
