James Douglas Muir Leno (/no/; born April 28, 1950) is a television personality, comedian, and writer from the United States. After years of stand-up comedy, he was named host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 until 2009.
Beginning in September 2009, he launched The Jay Leno Show, a primetime chat show that aired weeknights at 10:00 p.m. E.T. on NBC. When The Tonight Show with Jay Leno was canceled in January 2010 due to a scheduling and host issue, Leno returned to host on March 1, 2010. On February 6, 2014, he hosted the final episode of his second stint.
He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame that same year. He has hosted Jay Leno's Garage since 2014 and the 2021 relaunch of You, Bet Your Life.

Leno is well-known for his prominent jaw, a condition known as mandibular prognathism. In his book Leading with My Chin, he claims that he was aware of surgery that may reset his mandible, but he did not want to go through a protracted healing period with his jaws wired shut.
