Early life and Education
J-Hope was born on February 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea under the name Jung Ho-Seok (Korean: ). At the time of his birth, he resided in Gwangju with his parents and elder sister, Jung Ji-woo.
J-Hope enrolled in the Master of Business Administration degree in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University in March of 2019. He has a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment from Global Cyber University, which he earned in the past.
Career
J-Hope was a member of an underground dance team known as Neuron before he debuted with BTS.
He also took dance classes at the Gwangju Music Academy for a total of six years, beginning in the fourth grade and continuing through the beginning of his first year of high school when he signed with Big Hit Entertainment.
Due to his exceptional dancing abilities, he gained a fair amount of notoriety and was awarded a number of accolades in the community, including first place in a national dance competition in the year 2008.
Eventually, his interest in singing developed as a result of his dancing, and he tried out for a position as an idol trainee. J-Hope made his debut in the music industry in 2012 with his performance as a featured rapper on the song “Animal” by singer Jo Kwon.
