Javier lvaro Osorio Balvn or J Balvin (born May 7, 1985) is a Colombian rapper and performer. As the “Prince of Reggaeton,” he has sold more than 35 million records (albums and singles) worldwide, making him one of the best-selling Latin music performers. Medellin, Colombia, is the city where Balvin was born.
Moving to America as an adult, he resided in both Oklahoma and New York while learning English. He returned to Medelln, where he quickly became a local sensation by playing at local venues.

Early Life
J Balvin was born on May 7th, 1985, in Medellin, Colombia. Metal and punk rock was his first exposure to Latin music, which led him to become fascinated with Daddy Yankee's music after hearing it in the car on long trips to the US.
His father's business went bankrupt when Balvin was 15, and the family had to leave their spacious home in the hills outside of Medellin and migrate to a poorer area, despite the fact that he was born into a middle-class family.
