According to IMDB, Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, and Kaley Cuoco were among the stars who were spotted filming The Man From Toronto in Southern Ontario last year. The action comedy tells the storey of “the world's deadliest assassin and New York's biggest screw-up [who] are mistaken for each other at an Airbnb rental.”
Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco, and Ellen Barkin feature in The Man from Toronto, an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco, and Ellen Barkin. Sony Pictures Releasing plans to distribute The Man from Toronto on August 12, 2022.
Ellen Barkin and Kaley Cuoco also star. Last year, Harrelson took over for Jason Statham, who had quit the picture due to creative disagreements only weeks before filming was set to begin. Harrelson has become a studio favourite in recent years, starring in Sony's “Zombieland: Double Tap” in 2019. He is now appearing opposite Tom Hardy in the Spider-Man villain “Venom” sequel.
Robbie Fox collaborated with Jason Blumenthal on the screenplay, which was based on his personal narrative. Todd Black, Jon Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are in charge of the production. Bill Bannerman is in charge of executive production.
“Ride Along,” a comedy starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, previously established the box office record for Martin Luther King Day weekend in 2014, with approximately $48 million over four days. In 2016, “Ride Along 2” was released, grossing $41 million at the box office.
Jason Statham (Crank, Furious 7) was slated to play the main character but dropped out a few weeks before production due to a disagreement with the producers about the tone and classification of the picture. According to reports, Statham wanted the picture to be classed R, but the company preferred a PG-13 rating.
Woody Harrelson has been cast in his place (they're both bald, so it's a natural fit), and Harrelson will act alongside Kevin Hart, who portrays the screw-up who is mistaken for the assassin. The rest of the cast includes Kaley Cuoco, Pierson Fodé, Jasmine Mathews, Ellen Barkin, Lela Loren, Kate Drummond, and Tomohisa Yamashita.
Of course, owing to the epidemic, the film's production timetable was pushed back from its initial plan, which called for filming in early 2020 and a November 2020 release.
It was finally finished at the end of the year, but wasn't set to enter theatres until September 2021, a date that was subsequently pushed back to January 2022 owing to alterations in Hollywood's theatrical release calendar amid the health crisis this past April.
That date fell on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, which has seen Hart launch previous instalments of his Ride Along series to tremendous fanfare.
The film has now been put back another many months, this time until August 2022. On Monday, Sony Pictures revealed the picture's new August 12 release date, putting it up against films like Secret Headquarters, a family action/superhero thriller starring Owen Wilson, and Bros, a homosexual romcom starring Billy Eichner.
Wrapping Up
When the film is released, T.O. residents will undoubtedly recognise a number of GTA locations in the film, including key Etobicoke intersections, Milton streets, random Brampton locations such as the local GO station, and, of course, all over downtown Toronto, including a party scene set on Front Street.
Though they weren't lovers of Canada's chilly weather, the A-listers looked to have a blast while staying in the city and hanging out on set.
