Is it too late for Michigan State in 2022/23?

Whilst coming into the season as a side outside the Top 25 was always going to be a tall order for Michigan State in the 2022/23 NCAA campaign, it has been an underwhelming season so far.

Languishing in 5th in the Big 10 table, Michigan State have really huffed and puffed this season, without landing a blow of significance on the bigger sides around them in the division.

Consistency is always key in the Big 10, with a short number of games for players and teams to make an impact, often having a huge bearing on who reaches the knockout stages of the competition.

For Michigan State this season, a return of 5 wins and 5 losses from 10 games played only exemplifies the troubles the side have had and consequently, they don’t look to be in a position to qualify for the end of season gongs.

However, there is a small sense of optimism on the horizon for Michigan State, who have enjoyed a couple of improved showings in recent weeks.

After suffering a heavy loss to Ohio State, the writing looked to be on the wall for Michigan State but they bounced back strongly, overcoming a well-fancied Wisconsin side by 34 to 28, to kick start their campaign once again.

Losing to local rivals Michigan is always painful but this season, it was somewhat expected and Michigan State showed real resolve once more to bounce back and pick up a gritty win on the road at Illinois.

Contextualizing where Michigan State is within the Big 10 and beyond isn’t easy currently with the level of inconsistency they are showing.

With good results preceding bad ones, they are a tough side to back in the gambling sphere but in the world of NCAA football, anything can happen.

At +10000 odds with the Michigan online sportsbooks to win the NCAA Championship, clearly Michigan State have their work cut out this season but they will be eager to build towards next year in their remaining fixtures.

Painfully for Michigan State, it is cross state rivals Michigan that look better equipped to go all the way this season, with an unbeaten 10-game streak to start the season.

There are surely bigger tests to come for the Wolverines but they remain a very solid outfit that looks to have the credentials to go all the way in the NCAA this season.

At +800, the Michigan Wolverines are fit and firing in pursuit of NCAA glory this season.

Meanwhile, Ohio State looks set to also have a huge say in the outcome of the NCAA National Championship title, with their own unbeaten status on the line too.

As second seeds, they have snuck under the radar somewhat in 2022 but at +400, they certainly can’t be discarded.

Elsewhere, the Tennessee Volunteers are perhaps the best of the rest when picking a side for NCAA glory and at +1400, they look set to be in the mix.
