What is Interview With the Vampire About?
The official tagline reads, “Follow the epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality as told to journalist Daniel Molloy by Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, and Claudia.”
Louis, frustrated by the restrictions he faces as a black man in early twentieth-century New Orleans, can't say “no” to the dashing Lestat's offer of the ultimate freedom: becoming a vampire's companion.
But the introduction of Lestat's newest progeny, the child vampire Claudia, sets them on a path of revenge and atonement that will span decades.

The project finally found a home in July of 2018, on Hulu, but that did not lead to any forward momentum. In May 2020, AMC revealed that they had acquired the rights, earning Rice an estimated $30–$40 million.
