“I am Legend” is about Neville, who is the last person on Earth after a virus made by humans kills everyone else. The sequel might pick up in a time when the cure Neville made has been made available and given out. It's not clear if Neville, who died at the movie's end to save the new cure, will live long enough to see it.
It would be interesting to see a split between the Darkseekers and people who have been cured or aren't infected. This would raise questions about humanity and how we define what needs to be cured. What if some of the infected don't want to be cured? Is it possible they've come up with a unique culture and way of surviving that they're happy to live with? Who else can tell them how to live?
On the other hand, if their way of life is bad for other people, how fair is it to leave them alone? These are things that could make for a very interesting sequel because they would expand on some of the more philosophical themes that were in the first movie.

You might recognise him from “Black Panther,” where he played Killmonger. He is set to both play the role of Killmonger and help make the movie. Also, “I am Legend 2” will see the return of Will Smith, who played scientist Robert Neville in the first film. He will reprise his role. Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman will also be a producer on the movie. He wrote the first one with Smith and will also write the next one.
When I Am Legend 2 Comes Out
There are two I Am Legend movies. As soon as pre-production starts, we can expect the movie to come out in late 2022 or early-mid 2023. The sequel was announced on March 4. There is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen in I Am Legend 2.
One reason is that Creed III, which stars Michael B. Jordan, has just come out. It comes out on the 23rd of November this year. Once that's done, we can expect to see reports and details about I Am Legend 2.
