One of the most intimate parts of film and television production that viewers at home are frequently not made aware of is how much the work atmosphere and off-screen energy of the entire team behind the camera influence what people see on screen. That appears to be the case for one of CBS's longest-running shows, NCIS.
In a recent episode, the show honored crew member Shannon Soucie, and viewers are asking what happened to her.
Who was Shannon Soucie from NCIS?
Soucie worked in the make-up and hair departments of shows such as NCIS and CSI. Soucie joined NCIS in 2005, during the third season. She worked on the show for approximately 15 seasons before passing away on April 19, 2021.
Soucie died at the age of 55 after a long career in the industry, having worked for around a decade before joining NCIS.
Before joining NCIS, Soucie worked on films such as Primary Colors, Man in the Moon, and The Last Samurai. Soucie originally joined the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild in 1996.
According to Soucie's obituary, “Whether working on principals, supporting players, or background performers, she brought a quiet, efficient work ethic to her craft, making her a valuable team player.”

As of now, no information has been disclosed about the nature of Soucie's death or the circumstances surrounding it. Carla Dean, the head of the NCIS hair department, said in a tribute that Soucie was “always happy and smiling, wanting everyone to be okay,” and that “she was the best haircutter.”
Soucie's occupation came from her father, Jerry Soucie, who worked in makeup on TV and film before passing away in 1989.
“In memory of our friend and colleague Shannon Soucie,” said the NCIS tribute card. “We'll miss you.”

NCIS is noted for its close-knit community, with NCIS producer Frank Cardea praising the atmosphere in a 2019 CBS roundtable.
“Both on and off camera, it feels like a family.” Cardea stated, “I believe that comes through.” “You feel comfortable with these people, and you know these people like each other,” he said.
