Who Was Rina Trenholm Die on the FBI?
Rina Trenholm (Kathleen Munroe) was a top college student in psychology and criminology when she was introduced in season 3, episode 2. She began as a special agent in the Newark, New Jersey, field office and rose through the ranks to become ASAC in charge of the office.
Rina quickly ascended through the ranks at the Manhattan office, eventually becoming Assistant Director in Charge alongside Isobel Castille (Alana de la Garza). The couple could work well together; however, Rina looked more concerned about her political career in the FBI than doing the right thing, yet she was willing to aid others at times.
Rina also started a relationship with Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto), which appeared to be going well. Isobel was worried that it would interfere with their work and that Jubal would become too close to Rina. That turned out to be a disaster.
How Did Rina Trenholm on the FBI?
Rina died at the FBI in Season 4, Episode 11, when agent Jubal Valentine arrives at the hospital and realizes her room is empty. Then patient affairs coordinator Susan Blanchard informs him that Rina's parents, who had power of attorney, decided to withdraw her life support the night before.
“It was a decision they made after consultation with our medical staff and deep reflection,” Susan said to Jubal, who responded that they had spoken to her doctor and it “wasn't going to happen until the end of the week.” However, as Rina's mother explains later in the show, “her father and I knew that's what she would've wanted, so there was no point delaying it.”
During the poignant scene, Rina's mother tells a heartbroken Jubal that he was the reason Rina accepted her job at the New York Field Office. “She was content in Newark. “But she wanted to be close to you,” she explained.
Who Portrayed Rina Trenholm on the FBI?
Kathleen Munroe, a Canadian actress born in 1982, played Rina Trenholm in The FBI.
Munroe is mostly a television actress who has been in a variety of shows, including Beautiful People (2005-6), CSI: NY (2008–12), Call Me Fitz (2010–13), Haven (2010–11), Alphas (2011–12), Resurrection (2014), and, since 2020, the FBI.
She has nevertheless appeared in a number of films, including Survival of the Dead (2009, as Janet/Jane O'Flynn), The Void (2016; Allison Fraser), and A Family Man (2017; Toni).
Munroe also writes and performs music, speaks fluent English and French, and identifies as LGBT.
