Josh Goldstein applied to be a “Love Island” competitor after being persuaded to do so by his older sister Lindsey.
Josh informed his fellow islanders in an episode aired on August 5 that he was leaving the villa due to Lindsey's untimely death. Shannon St. Clair, who had been dating Josh since the first episode, abandoned him.
“Right now, I just need to be at home with my family to support them.” “I just wanted to let you know that I'm so grateful to have met all of you, and I consider you all my best friends,” Josh stated in the episode, as Shannon held his hand.
Islanders are cut off from the rest of the world, with no access to cell phones or the internet. Josh was informed of the awful news by “Love Island” producers.
How Did Lindsey Goldstein Die?
Lindsey's cause of death has not yet been disclosed. The 27-year-old native of Massachusetts worked for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. She worked as an investigator in child abuse and neglect cases.
Lindsey stated on her LinkedIn page, “My future goals are to continue to work in the criminal justice or social work field in the state or federal government.” She was a professional social worker with a Master's Degree in Criminology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Josh hailed Lindsey as “an incredible person” in the last episode of “Love Island.” Lindsey told The Haverhill Gazette that she urged her brother to audition for the show after noticing how much he resembled a previous contestant.
“He has been so focused on baseball and then getting his master's degree that he hasn't really been able to focus on relationships,” Lindsey stated during the interview. “He really deserves it.”
Lynn, Josh's mother, remarked, “We are a very close family.” We do a lot of enjoyable things together.”
Lindsey has planned to marry Paul Groton in October 2022. Zorino Vineyards in Sandown, New Hampshire was featured as the couple's wedding venue on their wedding website.

Josh was awakened by Love Island producers and informed of the awful news before being videotaped informing his co-stars.
He sobbed as he spoke about how much his sister meant to him, revealing that she was the reason he came to Love Island and met “the love of his life,” Shannon St Clair.
Then it was revealed that Josh and Shannon would be departing the villa together to go with his family at this tough time.
“I just wanna tell you guys that me and Shannon are going home today,” an emotional Josh told his fellow Islanders.
“Unfortunately, my sister died last night.” Yes, I just received word. She was a great lady. I'm here because of her.”
“The reason I met Shannon and all of you guys,” he said. And it's unexpected, but she lived an incredible life, and I just need to be home with my family right now to support them, and I just wanted to let you guys know how thankful I am to have met all of you.”
After becoming boyfriend and girlfriend in week 20, Josh and Shannon were expected to win the show and were the villa's sole official couple.

Fans of “Love Island” have expressed their support for Josh on social media, particularly in the comments section of an Instagram photo of Josh with Lindsey and his mother.
“My heartfelt condolences on your loss! I enjoyed watching your and Shannon's relationship develop. “I'm sure your sister is very proud of you,” said one Instagram user.
Other fans believe Shannon and Josh should be allowed to win the series. They were one of the stronger couples on the show and had a good chance of winning the $750,000 grand prize.

“Petition for LoveIsland to include Josh and Shannon in the finals, they were going to win,” a Twitter user wrote.
Josh and his family were also supported by the official “Love Island USA” Twitter account. “We send our love and condolences to Josh and his family from all of us at Love Island,” the account said in a tweet.
