How Did Gaspard Ulliel Die?

Ulliel was critically injured while skiing at the La Rosière resort in Savoie, France, on January 18, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., when he collided with another skier at an intersection between two blue/intermediate slopes after turning left, presumably to join his friends on an adjoining slope, and suffered serious brain trauma.
Ulliel was taken by helicopter to the trauma center of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes in adjacent La Tronche, where he died the next day about 4:00 p.m.
Ulliel was declared brain dead at the hospital, according to the French magazine Paris Match.
According to the investigation, both skiers collided and fell to the ground, and Ulliel remained still and unconscious when rescuers arrived.

According to Jean Regaldo, the operator of the La Rosière resort, Ulliel was not wearing a helmet when rescuers arrived. On French ski slopes, helmets are not compulsory.
Regaldo further stated that the weather conditions were “perfect” at the time of the accident and that there were no rocks in the accident area, which he described as easily accessible.
The other skier, a 40-year-old Lithuanian male, was wearing a helmet and was not hurt. According to him, the collision was not particularly forceful.
