Manifest, NBC's famous supernatural drama, debuted with a whole new season on April 1, 2021, and fans have been eager to learn more about the personal backgrounds of characters like Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) since then. Consider her relationship with Evie (Simone Elizabeth Bart). Were they close friends? What has happened to her? This is what you should know.
What happened to Evie in Manifest?
If you don't remember who Evie was, it's because she only featured in one episode of Manifest Season 1, but she had a significant impact on Michaela and her journey throughout the show.
Evie was one of Michaela's closest friends growing up, and the two were nearly like sisters. Evie tragically perished in a vehicle accident, which Michaela blames herself for to this day.
In season 3, we find that Evie and Michaela had a furious quarrel after a night of drinking. Michaela insists on taking an Uber rather than driving home, but Evie is keen on driving. Despite her better judgment, Michaela gives in and agrees to drive them back home, and the two end up in a vehicle accident that kills Evie.
Throughout the fourth season of Manifest, we watch Michaela struggle with Evie's death, owing in large part to the anniversary of her passing. It's evident Michaela is still troubled by what happened to her friend, as we witness her struggle with guilt at several stages during the season, including a calling that brings Michaela back to the night Evie died.
For the most part, Evie's only appearance in the season is through Michaela's references to her and flashbacks to her death; however, she does emerge in a genuinely frightening sequence in season 4, part 1.

Angelina creates a phony call with the Omega Sapphire in season 4, part 1, finale, causing Michaela to glimpse her deceased buddy. Angelina takes advantage of Michaela's remorse over her friend's death to provide a much-needed distraction to help her get out of a bind.
Given how many times Evie's name was mentioned throughout the season, we should have expected her to emerge in the last episode, and it was a fantastic way to bring the character back into the fold after hinting at her return in the episodes leading up to the finale.
