The post-apocalyptic TV show “The Walking Dead,” based on the same-named comic book, has captivated viewers with its gripping storyline, complex characters, and the constant fear of a zombie apocalypse.
One of the most heartbreaking parts of the series was when Emily Kinney's popular character, Beth Greene, died.
In this article, we delve into the circumstances surrounding Beth's demise and the impact it had on the show's storyline.
How Did Beth Die in the Walking Dead?
In season 5 of The Walking Dead, Beth was killed by a gunshot to the head. Officer Dawn Lerner, who was in charge of the people who made it to Grady Memorial Hospital, kills her. When Dawn wouldn't let Noah go, Beth used a small pair of scissors to stab Dawn.
Dawn pulls out her gun and shoots Beth in the head when she is stabbed. Dawn knows right away that she has done something terrible and tries to explain to Rick and his group that she didn't mean to do it. But it's too late now. In revenge for killing Beth, Daryl Dixon shoots Dawn in the head seconds later.
Beth was one of the group members who had been there the longest when she died. She was Maggie Greene's half-sister and Herschel's daughter when she joined the group in “Bloodletting” (S2E2). After the group was forced to leave jail, she became a key part of the story, and fans loved her and Daryl's adventures.
But the group at Grady Memorial Hospital would take her hostage, which would be the last time she was part of a plan. After she died, she is only seen in a few scenes, and her name is rarely brought up again. After so many people died in the wars with the Saviors and the Whisperers, it's hard to even think that far back.

Beth's death was the one that made fans the most angry because she was a very popular character. She wasn't the first important character to die in The Walking Dead, and she wasn't the last, either.
How Did Beth's Unexpected Death Change the Course of The Walking Dead?
After Beth died, The Walking Dead went in a dark, hopeless direction. The survivors didn't believe empty claims, and even though they tried to stay alive, they didn't have much reason to.
Tyreese, another character who made the show more fun, died in the next episode, adding to the sadness. She and Tyreese were the last two innocent people the survivors lost, which broke them and made them lose hope for people in general.
After Beth died, Maggie and Daryl were used by The Walking Dead to show sadness in different ways. Maggie was the only member of her family still alive. She was filled with sadness when she was told her sister was still alive, only to find out she was dead.
Daryl felt like he had failed to protect Beth, and he even burned himself with a cigarette to punish himself. Both of them were very sad about Beth's death and were sure that the world would never be the same again. The Walking Dead needed this spell of pessimism to balance out the happy-go-lucky nature of Alexandria, which will be presented soon.
Years after Beth died, Maggie and Daryl both kept her memory living. Maggie had a picture of Beth hanging in Hilltop, and Daryl would wear her shoelaces around his boots. Even though it's not said, Maggie's son Hershel Jr. is most like her little sister Beth.

He has the same musical ability as Beth, and Maggie can't help but see Beth in her son. Even though it was sad to see Beth make a mistake that ended her life, it was the right thing to do for the show when it was at its best.
