People all over the world are grieving the unexpected passing of the young legend. When he won the Asian Indoor Championships in 2015, the track and field sprinter specialized in the 400 meters and owned the Asian indoor record.
Abdalelah, who is originally from Sudan, was recruited when he was young and is now regarded as a budding star athlete. His first documented result was 45.74 seconds for the 400 meters in Doha in 2014, indicating he was on his way to fame.
He eventually broke another outdoor record, this time 44.68 seconds. He won the 2015 Arab Athletics Championships by approximately a second over Egypt's Anas Beshr. Later, he competed in the Rio Olympics, reaching the semifinals and winning silver at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.
His greatest achievement, however, came in the 2017 World Championships in London, where he finished third behind South African Wayde van Niekerk and Bahamas' Steven Gardiner.
He earned the bronze medal at the age of 20 — an outstanding accomplishment. “It is a very special moment for my country, and it is an honor for me to take the bronze medal with me,” Abdalelah remarked at the time.
In 2018, he earned two gold medals in the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, winning the 400-meter and 4×400-meter relay.
The only thing that seemed to be stopping him was when he tore his hip tendon, causing him to fail to advance past the heats at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. While he was recovering, he was still aiming to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which had been rescheduled for summer 2021.
