Homeworld 3: Everything We Know So Far

Homeworld 3 is the follow-up to one of the most acclaimed real-time strategy series in the history of the genre. Homeworld, the first real-time strategy game to be set entirely in three dimensions, was a revelation when it was released in 1999 because it was set in authentic space rather than on a two-dimensional plane. The ability to maneuver not only around, but also above and below your opponents was essential for victory in Homeworld.

What is Homeworld 3's release date?

We do not have a specific date at this time. Homeworld 3 will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the official website. Realistically, this means that you'll most likely see it sometime in November or early December of this year. Given the competition with Starfield for the same release date, it's unlikely that Gearbox will choose early November, but it's not unheard of for major games from different genres to release at the same time.

Will the release of Homeworld 3 be postponed? At this point, most likely not, because Blackbird Interactive now has a plethora of resources at its disposal, thanks to Gearbox's inclusion in the Embracer Group. However, in the midst of Covid-driven development delays, nothing is ever completely out of the realm of possibility.

Is there a gameplay trailer?

It is Karan S'jet, the protagonist of the original Homeworld games and the voice of both The Mothership and Fleet Command, who speaks for the trailer. Because of her physical connection to the Hyperspace core that powered the mothership, she's a posthuman known as an Unbound. As far as we know, she'll be around for a very, very long time as well.

From the destruction of Kharak and the Kushan flight through the galaxy to the war with the Vaygr horde from Homeworld 2, we're shown a wide range of events. Flat, boxy ships in the Hiigaran style are seen in a barrage from that point on. The Taiidan's distinctive yellow and red striped ships can also be seen in the distance. The Vaygr antagonists from Homeworld 2's Homeworld 2 appear in a brief flash of red-colored ships.

As the story progresses, we see glimpses of a massive ship: Vessel shaped like a crescent. Perhaps that's the Mothership we're building, complete with its distinctive massive launch bay for building capital ships. Unlike previous motherships, which have all looked like giant upright bananas, this one is more like a flat croissant, and it has a pleasing design resemblance to the carriers from Deserts of Kharak.

Will Homeworld 3 have a co-op?

Homeworld 3

One or two commanders will engage in a series of fleet battles against a persistent fleet in Homeworld 3, which will be available in the game's cooperative mode. After each battle, you can claim rewards for the following one, and completing successful runs will allow you to unlock new abilities that “carry over run after run.”

PvP multiplayer will also be available in Homeworld 3.
