Grantchester is set to return for more episodes but will soon be without one of its stars. The British detective series has been programmed to be renewed for a ninth season, but the final installments will be featured by star Tom Brittney. He plays the role of Reverend Will Davenport.
This news was announced by the production at the release of season 8 of Grantchester. Now, Tom Brittney will not be seen in any new season. Season 9 is the last season of Tom Brittney. He left Grantchester due to working on a new project. The role of Reverend Will Davenport will be replaced by the Rev. Alphy Kotteram, played by Rishi Nair.
At the time of season 3, Nortan’s exit was not pre-planned. His living in Grantchester was heartbreaking for his fans. In the same manner as Tom Brittley living in Grantchester breaks the hearts of his fans. More importantly, It makes the launch of season 9 a must-watch for viewers.

What Will the Storyline of ‘season 9 of Grantchester’ ?
The Grantchester season 9 is the Crime, Drama, Mystery thriller. In 1961, Will and Geordie were enjoying a good life. Their families spend a lot of time together, from Sunday lunches to planning summer holidays. They are joined by honorary grandparents Mrs. C and Jack, as well as adopted uncles Daniel and Leonard, forming one big, happy family.
However, Will faces a dilemma when he receives a life-changing offer—can he leave Grantchester and Geordie behind? Meanwhile, Geordie is dealing with personal loss and increasing family tensions between Cathy and their teenage daughter, Esme. Feeling isolated, Geordie has no one to confide in. But an unexpected turn of events occurs when he arrests an intruder breaking into the Vicarage, suggesting that his partnership with a Vicar might not be over yet.
Reverend Alphy Kotterm has no trust on authority and he is not interested in being involved in the murder mystery. But Alphy and Geordie will come to know that they have many similarities. And Alphy will find that in Grantchester, murder is never far away. From lethal circuses, deserted infants, and antagonistic historians to disappearing valets and homicidal satirists, Geordie and Alphy together observe how religion can be twisted, but also how faith, love, and friendship can provide hope and renewal.
