Watching “Gold” without much thought reveals its glaring shallowness, & the film's un-exciting bare-bones plot trying to talk about the ugly side of human greed does not provide much joy.
Gold Plot Summary: What Happens In The Film?
In the opening scene of “Gold,” Joshi's mom wakes him up to tell him that there's a pickup truck in front of their house. A part-time business owner, Joshi operates a mobile phone retail outlet. Joshi is curious about the pickup truck parked outside his house, which is covered in a blue tarp & has no key.
Joshi decides to go to the police station & file a report. However, a truck carrying timber blocks the road leading to the police station. The local CPO, Rakesh Manjaparra, assists with filing the complaint & visits Joshi's home to investigate how the pickup truck gained access to his property.
Rakesh & his subordinate are polite police officers who sincerely want to assist Joshi in resolving the situation. Regrettably, the timber truck incident required their return to the station. Joshi doesn't understand why anyone would park a truck in front of their house. When Joshi & the cops investigate, they find that the truck is loaded with speakers.
They figure that a store accidentally abandoned it. Joshi is powerless to change the situation, so he continues driving the car as is. When Joshi's new car finally arrives, he finds that he can't park it in his courtyard because his pickup truck is in the way.
Joshi was shocked to find out that the gold bars in the back of the pickup truck weren't speakers at all. After discovering what appears to be pure gold, Joshi's greedy nature takes over & he hatches a plan to keep it all for himself. Joshi is careful to keep his mouth shut about his breakthrough.
In order to figure out how to get out of this situation with as little fallout as possible, he keeps this information from his mother. Despite his extreme elation at discovering such a valuable object, Joshi is keeping his composure. He seems relatively level-headed as he considers his options for moving forward.
Once the police officers return, Joshi puts the gold speaker back in the truck so as not to raise suspicion. Joshi inquires at several jewelers about purchasing a gold melting machine. When one of his contacts lends him the machine, he uses it rather cautiously to turn the gold into a biscuit that doesn't need any blue paint to pass as a speaker.

Because Joshi's mom doesn't know what he's up to in their own house, the logic goes out the window. Melting gold seems like a process that would attract a lot of attention, but for some reason, it doesn't. You can see the excitement on Joshi's face as he contemplates the future possibilities afforded by the proceeds from the sale of the repaired gold bars.
Is Man One’s Life in Danger?
Well, it's already dangerous enough that he's abandoned in the scorching heat, even if he did manage to build himself a little shelter. But a scorpion that emerges from the ground at random, a snake & the possibility of dehydration & starvation as his food & water supplies run out are all additional dangers he faces.
Later in the film, Man One must also escape a sandstorm that could prove fatal to him. The desert is also home to wild dogs that roam the area in search of prey. They are constantly stalking Man One, hoping he will give out from the desert heat and become an easy meal.
Does Anybody Arrive to Help Man One?
Man One is having a tough time on his own, but eventually, a woman walks up on foot to help him find a watering hole. Man One, however, is wary of her because he suspects that she is after his gold.
After a heated argument, Man One allegedly kills the woman by hitting her over the head with a shovel and then setting fire to her body.

Since Man One appears to be losing his mind, it's possible that the woman is an illusion. When a second, seemingly identical woman claims to be the deceased woman's sister, it's reasonable to assume that she, too, is an illusion.
Gold Ending Explained
The story kicks off in a dystopian future. Our Hero Virgil has arrived, and he's about to go inside a building called The Outpost. To get to another strange place, Virgil hires a man named Keith, who he pays to take him to The Compound.
There's a major development while the two travelers are in a desert region where no living thing can survive. In the midst of this area, they find a massive gold nugget. Attempting to extract the gold using only their bare hands and normal equipment soon proves futile.
Next, we see that Virgil is content to remain where he is while Keith goes on ahead to find an excavator to assist them. The desert has abandoned Virgil. Now he's starting to get really angry. He has relatively few tools at his disposal.
Every day gets harder as his food and water run out & he can only communicate with the outside world via radio. Still waiting for Keith to show up is Virgil. Due to the extreme heat, Virgil builds a cave in the desert. He builds a shed out of the plane's remnants & sets up housekeeping there.
