Derek Simonds created The Sinner, an American police procedural anthology television series for USA Network. It's titled after Petra Hammesfahr's 1999 novel, which acts as the first season's inspiration. Bill Pullman plays a cop who investigates crimes committed by odd suspects and tries to figure out why they did it. Only Pullman appears in every season, with the rest of the ensemble changing depending on the plot of the season.
The Sinner aired on August 2, 2017, to critical praise and strong ratings. It was originally planned as an eight-part miniseries. Because of the show's success, USA Network has decided to convert it into an anthology series, with a second season set to premiere in 2018 and a third in 2020. A fourth season has also been ordered, with an October 13, 2021 launch date.
What is the Sinner all about?
Detective Harry Ambrose looks into the history of Cora Tannetti, a disturbed lady, in order to figure out why she stabbed a man to death in the first season.
After a young kid called Julian Walker confesses to poisoning a couple in the second season, Ambrose returns to his village and finds truths that the locals are trying to keep hidden.
In the third season, Ambrose investigates a deadly automobile accident in Upstate New York and discovers a much broader and troubling case.
The now-retired Ambrose returns to northern Maine in the forthcoming fourth season to heal from the last case. There is a tragedy there involving a famous family's daughter, and he is called in to assist with the inquiry.

The Cast of The Sinner Season 4
In season 4, newcomer Joe Cobden will join the cast as Hanover Island's Police Chief, alongside Bill Pullman and Jessica Hech, who portray husband and wife Harry and Sonya, respectively.
Jessica Biel (who also served as an executive producer on the first season) is back as an executive producer alongside Derek Simonds and Michelle Purple.
Release Date The Sinner Season 4
While the USA Network has yet to declare a premiere date, it is expected that The Sinner will premiere in the United States in October.
Hopefully, Australia's release date will be close to that of the United States. In the meanwhile, you may catch up on seasons 1-3 on Netflix.
Interesting Thing to note
The series, which was characterised by the network as a “closed series”, was adapted from Petra Hammesfahr's novel of the same name; however, the book's darker tone was toned down, and the setting was changed from Germany to Upstate New York in the United States.
It's Biel's first time as an executive producer on a series, a job she describes as “gold.” Biel explained that she went into producing to be able to generate projects with tough and fascinating parts rather than waiting for them to come to her.
The eight episodes of the series were shown on USA Network between August 2 and September 20, 2017, after it was ordered on January 17, 2017. The Sinner was originally intended to be a miniseries, however it was revealed in March 2018 that it will be renewed for a second season. The second season began on August 1, 2018, and ended on September 19, 2018, with eight episodes.
The sitcom was renewed for a third season by USA Network on March 6, 2019. On February 6, 2020, it will debut. The sitcom was renewed for a fourth season by the USA on June 15, 2020, with a launch date of October 13, 2021.
