Early Life

On December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey, Francis Albert Sinatra, better known as Frank Sinatra, was born. Italian immigrants Natalina “Dolly” and Antonino “Marty” Sinatra, his mother’s paternal grandparents, raised Frank Sinatra.

As a midwife, his mother had a prominent role in their community and in the local Democratic Party. His father worked at the Hoboken Fire Department, and previously also fought as a bantamweight boxed under the name Marty O’Brien. Sinatra would occasionally perform at their Hoboken pub.

In school, Sinatra did not do well. When he was just 47 days old, he was dismissed from A.J. Demarest High School (now Hoboken High School). Only eleven months at Drake Business School, he decided to leave.

Later, he worked as a delivery boy for the Jersey Observer and a riveter at the Tietjen and Lang shipyard, among other odd jobs. During this period, he performed in Hoboken bars and sang on radio stations all throughout the area.

Music Career

In the 20th century, Frank Sinatra was unquestionably one of the most successful musicians and one of the most successful artists in the world. With Tommy Dorsey and Harry James as bandleaders, Sinatra began his career as a singer in the swing period, and by the mid-1940s, he was a national sensation with his live performances.

Frank Sinatra’s debut album, “The Voice of Frank Sinatra,” was released three years after he joined Columbia Records in 1943. “Sinatramania” was born out of his popularity with young women, and it forever altered the musical landscape. The reason behind this is that before Sinatra’s prominence, popular music had been mostly recorded for an adult audience.

Sinatra did not serve in WWII. He was officially categorized as 4-F, “Registrant not acceptable for military duty”, due to a ruptured eardrum from birth. He did, however, join comic Phil Silvers on multiple USO tours.

His popularity waned. His injured voice chords, alleged links to organized crime, and a fling with actress Ava Gardner slowed his career in the 1950s, and he was dumped by his record labels. Disillusioned with Hollywood and its rejection, Sinatra began playing in Las Vegas. He was one of the first Las Vegas residency entertainers.

With his Oscar-winning performance in the 1953 drama “From Here to Eternity,” Sinatra achieved one of the greatest career comebacks ever. “Songs for Swingin’ Lovers!” (1956), “Only the Lonely” (1957), “Come Fly with Me” (1958) and “Nice ‘n’ Easy” (1959) were among his critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records (1960).

Frank Sinatra’s Net Worth

Frank Sinatra was a $200 million-worth American musical superstar. In the late 1980s, when Sinatra’s career was in free fall, his accountants estimated his net worth at $14 million, a startlingly low figure.

It wasn’t until after his death in the late ’90s that his family began wrangling over a bequest that may have been valued at as much as $600 million dollars. More than 150 million recordings have been sold all over the world, making him largely regarded as one of the twentieth century’s most popular and influential performers.

“From Here to Eternity” (1953) is often credited (1962). Sinatra was a highly regarded and well-recognized actor who won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his performance in the film “From Here to Eternity,” despite his fame as a singer.

Personal Life

From 1939 through 1951, Sinatra was married to Nancy Sinatra (née Barbato), with whom he had three children. While married, he had a number of relationships, including one with Ava Gardner, the actress. After that, he was married to Gardner for eight years, from 1951 to 1957, until legally divorcing her in 1953.

In the years following his divorce from Mia Farrow, he was engaged to both Lauren Bacall and Juliet Prowse before divorcing her. In 1976, he married Barbara Marx and they remained together till his death. After a heart attack, Frank Sinatra died on May 14th, 1998, in Los Angeles.
