If you are one of the million fans of the Fast and Furious movies then we have got the right news for you. You will be glad to know the upcoming part of it. Fast & Furious (also known as The Fast and the Furious) is an action film franchise based on illicit street racing, heists, espionage, and, of course, family. Short films, a television series, live events, video games, and theme park experiences are all part of the brand. Universal Pictures is in charge of distribution.
A Flash Back to previous Parts
The first film, Fast & Furious, was released in 2001, and it kicked off the original tetralogy of films about illegal street racing (2009). With Fast Five (2011), the series shifted to heists and espionage, and was followed by four sequels, the most recent of which, F9, was published in 2021. There are plans for a tenth and eleventh film, and the major films are collectively known as The Fast Saga.
Universal extended the franchise with the 2019 spin-off film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, followed by the animated streaming television series Fast & Furious Spy Racers from its subsidiary DreamWorks Animation. All of the films have soundtrack CDs, as well as compilation albums featuring existing music heard in the movies. Two short films have also been released as part of the series.
The series has been a commercial success for Universal; it is the sixth highest-grossing film franchise, with a total gross of over $6 billion. The first four films got mixed to unfavourable reviews until the fifth and subsequent films, which earned more mixed to good reviews. Fast & Furious has spawned a slew of different media, including rides at Universal Studios Hollywood, live events, advertising, and a slew of video games and toys. It is widely regarded as the vehicle that launched the careers of lead stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
Fast And Furious 10
A tenth film is in the works, with Lin returning to helm and Chris Morgan writing. It was set to be released on April 2, 2021, however, that date was taken by F9, leading the film to be postponed until a later date and owing to ongoing difficulties with the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also supposed to be out in February 2023, but it was postponed until April 7, 2023. Lin is slated to return to helm a direct sequel and the second half of the tenth (and last) film.
How Did it Do on Box Office?
That brings the Fast & Furious franchise back to its Easter weekend roots, where F7, the franchise's highest-grossing film, debuted in 2015 to $147.1 million domestically and finished with $353 million domestically and $1.5 billion globally. In 2017, Universal released Fate of the Furious, which had the third highest global opening of all time with $541.9 million (before going on to gross $1.2 billion worldwide).
Uni's F9, which was released during a theatre window, grossed $681.5 million worldwide during the epidemic. This weekend, the film became the first Hollywood film in the Covid era to gross more than $500 million abroad. F9 represented series director Justin Lin's return to the franchise after an eight-year hiatus.
