Everything we know about GTA 6 so far- Rumors, Leaks, News!

Even though Rockstar Games hasn't officially announced GTA 6, there have been numerous rumors about the game circulating for years, as well as expected leaks and more about the game's story and setting as well as features and other aspects of the game's gameplay.

According to a report from Kotaku, “a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series” is currently in the early stages of development as of April 2020. According to that report, we can expect a more limited release, with the game being expanded through updates in the manner of a multiplayer online game (MMO) or GTA Online.

With the game expected to be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the timing of development is set, and the release of updated GTA 5 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in March 2020 suggests we could be looking at a lengthy wait for a new GTA title.

So far, the following are the rumors that have been circulating about Grand Theft Auto 6.

When Will GTA 6 Be Released?

If Rockstar announces GTA 6 after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 (on October 26, 2018), we'll have to wait nearly 22 months, or until August 2020, based on previous delays between console GTA announcements and launch.

That was not done by Rockstar. As a result, the only information we have is a statement from April 2020 stating that GTA 6 was “early in development.” That makes predicting any kind of release window extremely difficult.

According to recent rumors, the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 will be sometime in 2025. This is accompanied by the information that the game is set in a modern-day version of Vice City, which will grow and change over time.

That is in direct conflict with earlier rumors that suggested GTA 6 would be released in October 2023 and would be set in Miami.

What are the rumors?

GTA 6

It does recommend that it be established on a drug ring as well, turning that into a recurring theme throughout all of the leaks.

Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, stated the following in an interview with Polygon back in September of 2013:

The DNA of Grand Theft Auto feels contemporary, American, and English-speaking at the moment, which is understandable considering the game's history… “However, this does not necessarily limit it to those; it is simply a reflection of what we have done thus far.”

As a result, many people speculated that GTA was looking for outside inspiration, or that they were returning to the United Kingdom. While Houser stated that GTA would not be returning to London during an interview with The Guardian in the same month, he also stated the following:

According to Houser, “GTA London was cool for the time it was released, but games were more limited at the time.” He continued, “These days, I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I'm not sure if it would be a GTA game.”

I believe there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the United Kingdom, great environments to showcase, and great gameplay mechanics that could be adapted to work in the United Kingdom – I just don't believe it would be a GTA-style game.”

According to a March 2016 report, Rockstar visited the Japanese capital as part of a reference trip for a game titled GTA: Tokyo that was released several years earlier.

Ultimately, the concept for the game was scrapped, but not before the studio conducted interviews with residents, took photographs, and tried to get a sense of the city before embarking on that particular gaming journey.

According to the source, Rockstar was “dedicated” to developing a game with a Japanese setting and even went so far as to trademark the names GTA: Tokyo, GTA: Bogota, and, more mysteriously, GTA: Sin City in 2003, to demonstrate their commitment. Even though it was during the development of GTA 3 and Vice City, the road system was identified as a potential problem, and it was only one of the factors that led to the concept being abandoned.

GTA 6

The GTA 6 rumors are quite extensive at the moment, with some speculating that the game will take place in the following locations:

  • Liberty City – GTA 3, GTA 4, Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony
  • Vice City – GTA Vice City
  • San Andreas / Los Santos – GTA: San Andreas, GTA 5

What could be the plot?

Speaking of GTA 6, there are numerous rumors circulating about the game's storyline, which range from multiple heroes to a single male protagonist.

According to a leak by Reddit in 2020, the film would be set in the 1970s/80s and feature a single, male protagonist who is an up-and-coming drug lord-want to be named “Ricardo,” who would be the main character. The story also includes the appearance of another significant character named “Kacey.”

According to the leak, you'll start out as a grunt who is involved in the smuggling of cocaine from Vice City to the new largely South American area before making contacts with long-time drug lords and working your way up the ranks, with the story taking place across several cities throughout the world.
