A massive quantity of wine. Camille Léger flies all the way to Tokyo to attend the will reading of her famous father, the late wine tycoon Alexandre Léger. There, she learns that she must vie with Issei Tomine, a young oenologist whom Léger refers to as his “spiritual son,” for the inheritance of her father's prized wine collection, fortune, and business empire.
Long-buried truths and conflicts are revealed as the couple competes in a series of wine-tasting challenges. The fact that this thriller is one of Apple's first to be available in many languages suggests that there is much more to discover beyond the first season. So, here's what we know about when you can expect to watch Drops of God Season 2.
Drops of God Season 2 Release Date
If Drops of God is picked up for a second season, we could see it in 2024. The premiere of Drops of God Season 1 on Apple TV+ occurred on April 21, 2023. On April 21, the first two episodes of Drops of God Season 1 were simultaneously published.
There are eight one-hour episodes in the first season. On June 2, 2023, the eighth and final season will premiere. Here's all we know about what to expect from season two thus far. Apple TV+ has not commented on the show's future, but a decision on whether or not to renew it should be made by the summer of 2023.
Apple TV+ may consider airing a second season of the show if enough people saw the first and other criteria are met, due to the show's popularity. Season 2 of “Drops of God” could premiere as early as 2024 if the show is renewed soon.
Season 2 of Drops of God: Speculation on the Plot
Season 2 of Drops of God would most likely follow the events that unfold after the final showdown between Camille and Issei. Camille and Issei's struggle to inherit Léger's wine empire is currently season 1's primary plot point.
The season-long rivalry between them is centered on three wine-tasting-based challenges, all of which should be completed by the season's end. Whoever wins, they'll both have to deal with the fallout, especially when more of the mysteries surrounding Camille, Issei, and Léger's past are exposed.
There are 44 volumes of manga with potential storylines for season 2, including the hunt for the '12 Apostle' wines and Shizuku, the manga character on which Camille is based, traveling abroad to locate the revered ‘drops of God' wine.
Drama series writer Quoc Dang Tran has previously stated that he is more interested in capturing the “essence” of the manga than committing to a more linear adaptation. However, the wealth of material at his disposal provides ample fodder for future seasons.
