Dopesick is one of the highly anticipated Hulu programs that will premiere on October 13, 2021. Dopesick is a Danny Strong-directed American drama miniseries based on Beth Macy’s true story Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America. On October 13, 2021, the first three episodes of the eight-part series debuted on Hulu.
Dopesick is centered on “the epicenter of America’s battle with narcotic addiction” in the United States, what it means for people and families, alleged irreconcilable circumstances between various government organizations such as the FDA, DOJ, and Purdue Pharma, and finally, the legitimate argument against Purdue Pharma and their turn of events, testing, and advertising of the medication OxyContin.
Dopesick Season 2 Cast
Michael Keaton plays Dr. Samuel Finnix, Michael Stuhlbarg plays Richard Sackler, and Peter Sarsgaard plays Rick Mountcastle in ‘Dopesick.’ The cast is balanced by Rosario Dawson (Bridget Meyer), Will Poulter (Billy Cutler), Kaitlyn Dever (Betsy Mallum), and John Hoogenakker (Randy Ramseyer).
In addition, Jake McDorman (John Brownlee), Jaime Ray Newman (Kathe Sackler), and Phillipa Soo reprise their roles (Amber Collins).
Keaton, Stuhlbarg, Sarsgaard, and Hoogenakker are all likely to return for the upcoming season. Depending on the circumstances, the extra cast members may also be required to repeat their roles.
Given her character’s disastrous fate in the first season, Dever is very probably not returning. However, if the show is renewed for another season, the producers may decide to start over with a whole new cast.
The first season of ‘Dopesick’ begins with Richard Sackler developing OxyContin, a narcotic-based pain medication. It spans more than a decade, beginning with the company’s first foray into the market and ending with the weight of evidence against Purdue Pharma. Mountcastle and Ramseyer eventually triumph in finding the truth about OxyContin’s misbranding and Purdue Pharma’s criminal behavior.
This results in massive negative media coverage and substantial fines for Purdue. If the next series is successful, it is possible that it will target additional drug corporations that assisted with the narcotics problem.
Mountcastle and Ramseyer prepare to take on another drug-related case in the season 1 conclusion, and their new investigation could be the subject of the next season.
In an expected second season, Solid has expressed curiosity in catering to the narcotic emergency’s post-2007 improvements.
