DogGone is the story of a lost dog attempting to find its way back to its family that is the inspiration for Doggone, an independent game currently in production for the PC by Raconteur Games.
Following up on their previous announcement, the developers sent a statement on their Twitter account revealing that the game may now be wishlisted on Steam.
DogGone Release Date
For the time being, there is no set release date for the game, which is advertised in the shop as “Releasing: When it is ready.”
DogGone Gameplay
The game itself is a 2.5D platformer in which the player takes on the role of the aforementioned lost dog, completing puzzles and making their way through the globe.
Doggone features a canine with a unique “smell-o-vision” skill that allows it to sniff out potential points of interest in the environment.
He can also dig to reveal things and collectibles that have been hidden. In addition, there are the more common dog behaviors like barking and rolling about.

Eyvind Earle, who is best known for his work on the Disney film Sleeping Beauty. The gameplay borrows from games like “Inside,” with light platforming and puzzles, although it isn't as depressing as that title.
One thing that is made quite evident by Raconteur is that Doggone is a game that makes you feel wonderful. The story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, but there will be no violence against the dog and no tragic ending to be found.
During a casual conversation between the devs and Xbox's Phil Spencer, there's even a minor joke in which they promise that it won't be like “Old Yeller.”
DogGone's Kickstarter Journey
Doggone ran a Kickstarter effort in 2019 that was unsuccessful, raising only $10,689. The campaign sought to raise $100,000, but only managed to raise $10,689.
The campaign was only for Part One of the game, however, the project on Steam appears to be for the entire game.
Additionally, Raconteur is the inventor of You Can Pet the Dog VR, a virtual reality experience that revolves entirely around stroking dogs.
